I'll be out there from Sun.-Sun. so obviously I think they're all good days. Up untill Wed. it's just practice, but it's a great chance to cruise around the pits and talk to the pilots and crew chiefs and what not. Wed. is all qualifying. Thurs. is the first official day of races. Great day to come on out and miss the crowds, but the Big Daddies of the Unlimiteds don't run untill Fri. That is why I say Fri. You'll see the best of the Unlimiteds with the smallest possible crowd. If you do check it out, get pit passes. Trust me, they are worth every penny.
I'm gonna try and get some pics with my dad's new D200. That camera is knargly. Hopefully the forest fire smoke will go away and allow us to get some good stuff from the Valley of Speed. You'll get your chance, smart guy.

What up fellas. Another year in the books. Not the easiest of years. 3 incidents marred the perfect safety record from the last 5 years. 1 was mechanical error, and the other two, well they were pilot error. They are all professionals and they all know the risks. If you don't think Air Racing is dangerous, you're an idiot. When things go bad, they can go really bad. The crappy thing is that the media instantly sensationalizes incidents like this because it makes for "great news".
Anyways, beyond that, we had a pretty good year. Lots of record runs and new champs. Awesome racing from the fastest motor sport in the world. The Unlimiteds saw the return of Rare Bear from a decrepid state in '06 to '07 Champ. The return of Mr. John Penny in the the Bear proved legendary. He layed in the weeds all week and never turned a lap over 450mph., letting Mike "More Money Than God" Brown win every heat race. Come Sunday, Penny led every lap with an average of 478mph.
John Sharp has finally realized the potential of his "new" NXT in the sport class with a new engine rule that allows for 1040 cu.in. as opposed to last years 650 cu.in. limit. That little plane flat out screams. 385mph average over last years 360mph average.
The jet class also has a new champ and new speed record. They opened that field up to any subsonic jet with a maximum of a 15 degree swept wing. The T2 Buckeye whooped 'em all, but there was a strong contingent of t33's in the field. Winning race average of 489mph.
Regardless of sesationalized news storys, us real fans grieve our way, by continuing to show up dat after day, year after year, to honor and enjoy the baddest assest race event on the planet. You'll get your chance, smart guy.

Sorry Sparky, just saw this. Let's see, La Famiglia at the corner of Lake and 1st. Very good. Bistro Roxy over at the Eldorado is pretty good. Harrah's Steak House is always good. Silver Peak Brewery on Sierra and 1st is good. There is another Silver Peak over on wonder street not too far away. You'll get your chance, smart guy.
