Put your hand on a hot stove for a minute, and it seems like an hour. Sit with a pretty girl for an hour, and it seems like a minute. THAT'S relativity. Albert Einstein

Doesn't look big enough to worry yet. Anything under CAT4 at landfall (which this will probably drop to 3) is just a reason to party. Go to the bar and wait it out IMO. If he is lucky it will actually bring beautiful weather to whatever area he is in. When Katria came through it was gorgeous at my house for a day in late August.
They are making more of this than there is. My brother-in-law is there now and says the weather is beautiful on Oahu. IF it does brush land it will be the SE tip of the big island and won't even affect anything else but make for some nice surf. I spent three years there and never saw one at all.

No kidding, if I turn on weather channel right now, within 5 minutes they have me ready to back my bags and head north for the entire season of July-November........weather has gotten as bad with the doomsday stuff as news media.....I have gotten where I can't watch any news station or weather b/c of the slant on everything.
Srsly, hurricanes make for some fine weather on the NW and SE sides of them.....you have never seen a clearer, pleasantly cool day....just a little more windy than normal. You DO NOT want to be on the NW side of that bad boy, just ask Gulf Coast MS.

That's true. When Rita came, I housed some evacuees at my lakehouse. We had beautiful clear skies. It was actually kinda nice.

Nothing to worry about. I am home and the Hurricane was looking to be way off from Oahu but the big island looked to get a large amount of rain and strong winds. If it does shift north then it will be a problem. My family lives on Oahu and my Mom comes home Wed. All of the surfers are stoked because it will bring some swells tomorrow. They have had very few swells this last month.
