Actually a better alternative from Sprint would be the Mogul or the MotoQ. Both are full smartphones. Of coure neither are going to be an mp3 player, but they are both much more capable in terms of office mobility.

i'm ordering the iphone with my mac pro Jan 1, that way it's a new laptop in the NEW year. I'm sure some of you will catch on

Wait til after the mac world announcements in San Fran. Usually second week in Jan. 1/1 is worst time, cuz new stuff comes out at macworld many many times.

I am planning on upgrading my mac pro around then. I have the 2.66 GHZ dual core/dual cpu with 8 gigs now, they are coming out with a complete new round of all quad core dual cpu machines. They should come out sometime between now and mac world. Also new apple displays.

No, its cheap and easy to hit the tradeshow. I have been about 7 or 8 times, but the real show is the keynote. I used to wait in line very early to get in, but now its almost impossible. If you haven't seen jobs do a keynote, its worth it. I have seen him do about 6 or so. If you are a geek, its very cool.

Apple is an amazing company, but mainly cuz of the passion of jobs that filters down. The campus is amazing also. A couple years ago I got invited to the campus, to discuss some software I wrote and a partnership thing. It was a minor thing, but enough to get noticed and invited. It was a monument for me, eat in their employee cafeteria, meet in one of their monstrous state of the art conference rooms. I have gone back 2 more times, and each time I feel like a kid.

I haven't been to mac world in a few years, its just too crazy now that apple is so much more popular. I have been there and heard keynotes from 3 CEOs. Good times. ;-)

Don't know if you have ever read the best page in the universe, but the guy has an awesome comparison of the iphone to a slightly less popuar nokia (which I'll agree is probably the best phone on the market).
