    Thanks for the offer Domz,

There not available here for sale in Canada as we do not have AT&T, but we can go to the USA apple store and purchase them or on ebay, unlock them and use them with our GSM carrier. I am only a few hours from Seattle, so getting the phone is not the problem. Getting a unlocked phone from someone I trust is the problem.

My cell phone network is Rogers, which is a GSM carrier in Canada ( 1 of only 2 carriers in Canada with this system) So I am covered there as well What I need is someone to "unlock" the phone for me so I can use it with my carrier. ( AT&T are not up in Canada, hence why you can not but the phone and activate it here)

There up here forsure and people know how to unlock them but for what these guys are charging to unlock them is pricey ( up to $400 + the phone)

There are rumors that when they do become available here through a network the WIFI or data transfer will be very expensive due to our cell coverage area's or something. The same USA package for $69.99 could be up in the $200 range for the same service here. Blackberry plans are just under $200 a month...

I have no use for above features, so I really just want a unlocked phone to be able to put my GSM card in it and be happy that is why I asked Ragboy if he had any knowledge of that "automatic" program that does it all for you online.

With that said, no need to vouch for anyone, I think everyone on here is super cool and trust worthy.

Set one up for a co-worker today. It works as advertised, however it doesn't do anything that $150 Palm or Windows smart phone cannot on the non-ipod side; other than the fancy slide, scroll, fingertip Human Computer Interface. I can see where a few changes in the available software, and some other nice features might make it worthwhile. My impression is that it is an iPod, with a phone on it. It didn't really feel like a full all in one product to me yet. I also noticed it expereinced some lag in the interface, especially while sending and recieving data. I would hold out on purchase until there is an increase in available processor cycles, and Apples gets the first round of lawsuits over with. On the plus side, it only froze one, which was remedied with a sleep toggle, and it synced up quite nicely with outlook. It also had preconfigured POP and SMTP settings for common mail providers (AOL, Y, GGL, etc). The touchscreen keyboard does not play well with fat fingers, or stylii. I have pretty thin fingers, and I was fat-fingering some of the entries on the glassy qwerty keypad. Scrolling and Human Interface is very sleek and chic....however, the zoom function doesn't work as nicely as it could. I am sure Apple will be putting some R&D into this. I found it easier to use my thumb as a pivot point, and use my index finger to control the actions. THIS IS A 2 HANDED PHONE. If you need a one handed phone, I would suggest going with a treo, blackberry (if you like thieves), or one of the motoQ's (if you like child labor). It would be painstaking to try and use a single hand for this due to the lack of buttons for dialing or anything else for that matter.

Apple consistently releases works as advertised hardware, and this is no exception. I do feel they may be a victim of their own criticism with the glass design on the weather, google maps, and buttons. The images used for button backs and other items look just like XBMC (xbox media center - runs on linux kernal xbox platforms). The weather screen is a dollar for dollar carbon copy. Still a nice interface all-in-all.

Scroll up for my fingers. I disagree, it just takes a bit to get used to. And like I said, you get the added benefit of no fatigue like you do with tactile buttons.

It's a great phone, but all phones have their flaws. Everyone I talks to all says the same, "thing great phone, but 3 things wrong with it." But none the less they all still use it and say they will probably always use it until something better comes out.

I used my bro's this last weekend and must say it's pretty cool But the major dislikes have to be fixed before I switch. The worthless blue tooth, no pic messages, and 3g kill it.

But I'm sure once they fix that I'll buy one.

I believe the pic messages is something about to be updated. What is worthless blue tooth?

you can't use it for anything but a hand's free headset.

If they fix the pic messages and the blue tooth I would buy one now. But I just don't like how you can't send anything to a printer, or another phone or your computer or anything via blue tooth. I mean I plan on using this for work as well, so why can't I print stuff via it? i mean doesn't that make sense to you too, or am I just blowing smoke up a tree.

I do know that the pic messaging has got to be fixed. Do you feel that the pic messaging and or 3g will be added via an update? i was searching engadget but didn't find anything.

no on 3G AFAIK. They stayed away from 3G, mostly because of battery life. Apple said the 3g chips have a way to go, before they don't suck to much juice.

On printing, I have never had a need. Its an extension of my Mac. I do everything on my mac, this allows me to stay in touch when I am away.

It has wifi, so it is VERY fast anywhere you have a wifi connection, and more and more free places come up. Also, the phone TELLS you when you are around a wireless access point.

You would be surprised how functional it is over edge. I use it all the time to get maps, or even check various sites over the web, it is slower, but useable. I guess if you plan on sitting somewhere on the edge net, just to surf, it would get annoying.

The worst part, is 3rd party apps don't work with new update, but that will also be rectified soon.

One more thing, it is true it doesn't have pic message, but my wife sends me pictures all the time from her phone, and I too her. You just use email, you don't need pic message. I guess if you are sending to older phone or something you would want it.

I agree with this. When I was at the hotel I logged in and used wifi and it was fast and told me to select one so that was nice.

Even the edge was not that slow, I agree. I don't know any 3rd party aps I'd be using right off the bat, but I do agree after using it I was impressed.

I do send and recieve a lot of pic messages, and yes I know I can send them via email to her razr/e6555 what ever I buy her, but i just want to be able to punch and go, plus with no multiple messages that bothers me too. I do a lot of multiple messages now so kinda feel I want it, but I guess that could be updated in an update as well right?

I guess the 3g isn't that crucial. I'm sure I'll be buying one with in the end of the year, just need to get some stuff setteled up. Perhaps by the time I get ready they will have already fixed it. Like I said I was really impressed with it all. I mean I surfed tigeowners while my bro was driving up from houston to dallas for the ou/tx game. It did very well. Took a bit to get used to, but I really was surprised.

                              Rag,

Can you confirm this question. Will I be able to add my work email to it? I mean this way I can get it as a write off/ fight for them to pay for it type deal. I was told by someone that you can't link up to outlook for corporations.

Thanks again for all your insite.

If your work uses regular pop or imap, and as long as you can access that way out of the office, yes, it would work.

Actually, if I was you, I would by 2 of the 4 gig ones for both of you. The only diff between 4 and 8 gigs, is less songs.
