Well, I think you will be surprised how much apple can stay ahead, without every releasing any hardware. For instance, the new wifi music store. Just a firmware update and you have it. You are talking about a platform with just a big screen and pretty much nothing else. All UI and buttons are software made, not hardware. Not to mention the people who made installer.app, made it INCREDIBLY easy to add 3rd party apps to this thing to fill any gaps you need. Anyone can do it, no code or geek knowledge necessary. I have added an IM app that I needed, and SSH and Terminal app, so I don't have to use webshell, and there are many others.

yeah that's why I really like apple and I want to get one. there are just 2 things right now about the phone I hate that I wanna wait for and also I don't want to drop the 200 to break my contract and then the 400 on the phone and then the 2 year deal. If could get out of breaking my contract I would do it as I need a new phone. Oh well decisions decisions

As a veteran of the very first Treos, the original platform of this type, I know what you're saying. However, while anyone can add new software, it's usually a while before the quality productivity apps show up. As an executive, it's often frustrating to have the latest gadget that's hampered by lack of 3rd party apps.

When it comes to these types of things, smart phones and such, money has never been the issue with me. It has to work, I have demoed and purchased other things in the past, and NONE of them fit my needs. This one does, and then went a step further, and even takes over 99% of my needs to ever bring a laptop with me, which is just amazing to me. I know what you mean, its a very personal thing, it has to work perfect, or it is just frustrating.

One of the cool things, I tried the treo type keyboard thing, and man, my thumbs would just ache after typing for a while. I type ALL the time on this thing, and have never experienced fatigue typing. Its the way the touch screen works, requires no pressure.

Ragboy- Do you think it will work as the article says? I really want a IPHONE but in Canada they are not available at all, so the only way I will be able to use one is to get a cracked on and put my Rogers card in it, which I don't mind doing, I just want to make sure it is done right.

People have them here already, as Kermit said in the video, any unlocked phone will work with our systems but it would be nice to be able to buy the phone legit up here.

I just need to find a reliable source for a unlocked phone ( don't really trust ebay)

No, It is hacked using the apptap method, but NOT hacked. I have been an ATT Cingular back to ATT again customer for years. So no need.

You can ask a lot of people on here have met me and I would venture to say that they would vouch for me. Just an option.

Can you not buy the phone online and ship it to yourself in Canada?
