That sucks for everyone that got the 4GB for the old price!!Put your hand on a hot stove for a minute, and it seems like an hour. Sit with a pretty girl for an hour, and it seems like a minute. THAT'S relativity. Albert Einstein

Its technology, if you want the latest and greatest, its the price you pay. I have 2 iphones, 8gb, one for me and my wife. $599 is what I paid for each. But I tell you, it has transformed the way I work. It would have been worth a grand. I can be on the lake, and answer my emails and texts and even IMs and my clients think I am at my desk. I get issues, task them to my devs if urgent, and keep out on the lake. I can even monitor and solve minor issues on my servers in my datacenter. Well worth it. I have all the spots marked on Lake Oroville that are dead, and I don't go there. Anyway, for me, it never leaves my side, and is the best thing since sliced bread.http://wake9.com/

It's just crazy how fast they dropped the price after they sold out so fast!!!!Put your hand on a hot stove for a minute, and it seems like an hour. Sit with a pretty girl for an hour, and it seems like a minute. THAT'S relativity. Albert Einstein

It is. Its not the norm for apple. I think the customer satisfaction surveys and press showed them they hit a niche and they have an opportunity. I don't think they anticipated this completely. So now, you have so many copies coming out, and Apple leaves open a huge door with the high price. So they closed the door, and they will sell a ton more. $399 for this phone is a bargain if you look at other smart phones. Just the ipod portion of the iphone is probably worth that. Also, out of the 1 million iphones, 25% were people switching from other carriers, JUST to get the iphone. So maybe ATT saw $$$ and decided to kick something in.http://wake9.com/

I just got back from the Apple store, went there during lunch. Damn I was foaming at the mouth with the new iMacs.

Been able to do the same thing with Palm based phones, and smart phones for quite a while now. I don't see a need to justify the price tag on any of apples phones or music players when there are very capable alternatives available. I started with a Samsung i500, on to a Treo, then a windows Treo, then to a Blackberry, and just recently to a slim phone to carry around along with a Pearl.http://www.wakeboatworld.com

I just don't know how I'd like the touch screen only option. I had all the early versions of the Treos and Blackberrys. My favorite thus far for a functional phone/PDA was the Treo 300. It worked the best and was super reliable and it didn't require 2 hands to operate. I have big fingers, so touch screens are more challenging in small form factors.Cursed by a fortune cookie: "Your principles mean more to you than any money or success."

ragboy,
Perhaps you can answer this question for me. On the imac, and powerbooks there is an option to use the internet via bluetooth through your wireless provider's data network. I can acess it on my gf's mac via my razor's bluetooth, but I dont' have the data network. What I'm wondering is this possible on the iphone with the imac? if it is I'm swithing over to att this weekend. Just wondering if you could help me out.
Thanks.Originally posted by G-MONEYIt hurts me to say it but go OU but only for this weekend!!!!

Don't get me wrong, I use PC's, and manage servers using both Windows 2003 and Linux. I am adept at all of it, but choose the Mac/iPhone. I feel like I get the best of all. I can manage macs, windows pcs, linux boxes, all very easily from my mac, it is much more difficult to do from a PC, or Linux box to the rest. Anyway, I luv my iphone, and its great when you luv to use something. So if you luv your palm, thats great too.http://wake9.com/
