The iPhone comes out Friday ... I'm starting vacation Friday ... where there's no cell service ... I work for AT&T as one of the many nameless people in support ... what's that tell you?

I want to be as far away as possible and out of reach when they launch this thing 6pm on Friday. It will be a madhouse that i want no part of It's going to be mayhem in the retail stores due to all the hype.

Wakeboarder; I heard employees won't be getting one anytime soon from what i hear. Never know though ...

Other tidbits ... the iPhone doesn't not have a replaceable battery ... oops! The iPhone has special rate plans ... $60, $80 & $100 ... I think iphone also taps into your wallet too!

Don't quote me on it but I'm pretty sure you cannot use it as a broadband card.

I did the EXACT same thing. I drop kicked my Treo 680 trying to catch it w/ my foot straight into the all in my apartment. Dented the wall and the Treo still works great!

Ya I'm pretty sure you're right about that Razz.. but (honestly not trying to sound like a jerk) she's pretty high up there.. She's been w/ AT&T/Pacific Telephone/Pac Bell/SBC/AT&T(again) for almost 30 years.

What I just said there ^ reminds me of the Steven Colbert clip on AT&T history.. Have you guys seen it? It's pretty funny!

Yeah, Verizon kindly ends my calls when they see fit and opts not to make them when I really need to make a call. I love my Verizon service

Yeah, they'll probably tack on an extra $.30 for royalty free calls

I think this might be like the PS3, Where everyone has to get their hands on it, and then you never hear about it.

Cingular is a little better but its spotty and will jump in and out of signal, and I accuse them of being communists. Verizon seems to be the best but I know someone where it worked everywhere but their house.
We have had US Cellular for 2 yrs and haven't found a place where it dosen't come in except one little redneck town called Knob Lick MO. It near farmington MO

The current model of the iphone is not compatable with the 3g network so it wont provide you true broadband speed.

Well that may be true but the problem with 3G is it's limited availabilty, and even then in real life it's not all it's cracked up to be and rarely works at the advertised rates. The iPhone is tri-band compatible offering the best solution to the masses. It is wi-fi/edge/bluetooth compaible as well.

What everyone fails to remember is this is a glorified iPod and not meant to be the communications end all. If you want that then my Blackberry 8800 is the king of communication.

BTW; just as i predicted AT&T announced today that there will be no employee discounts on iPhones or rate plans and that the focus for now and months to come is on the retail end. Predicted that one ...

It is not the iPhone, it is ATT/Cingular network. ATT/Cingular has yet to roll out 3g.

I don't have a laptop, so was thinking I could just use this as one, and then hook it up to my comp at home to use at the air card.

Very true razz. It will be a disaster, and I have no desire to get the first model of one. The thing is though if it can really surf the net, those plans are not that bad, when you compare what there is now.

no way, other companies will now have to compete with this. No other phone has TRUE internet service, granted, not sure if this is either, but they sure are marketing it that way. I mean I could even surf tigeowners from it Man how high would my post count be then
