Appreciate it all. I'll look into it more this weekend if I have some time.

If they would allow 3rd party software and stop being proprietary. I would agree with you. However, since I do a lot of programming with Microsoft products and my PDA has software that I have created to track various updates and modifications to the software that I create, there is no way that Apple would be able to accommodate my needs. I am not bashing Apple, they have a good product but definitely not the #1 product on the market. But again, who has the #1 product???? I would say that it depends upon the owner of the product.

There's an interesting podcast on why the iPhone is doing so poorly in Europe. Seems like we're a bit behind the technology power curve when it comes to wireless technology here in the states. The edge network may work well for us, but it's a dinosaur when compared to G3.

I agree. You hear about all these cool new phone in the orient but they are not compatible because of the network. Just wish someone would update their network and then everyone would flock to it. IMO...

First, I have a bunch of third party stuff on my iphone. This is unofficial at the moment, and will be official through apple in the next month or so. The amount of available apps is mind-boggling. I can manage my entire server farm from my iphone, with the BSD underpinnings and ssh especially. There are new apps out everyday, I bet if you search, you find what you are looking for.

This just came out today, I don't need it, but an example:

Also, the reason apple steered away from 3G was not the network, especially in Europe, they would have made a 3G version, where 3G is more widely available. The 3G chips to use in the phone SUCK your battery. All you have to do is turn on wifi and bluetooth on the iphone, and you see that. Turn off bluetooth and wifi, and the battery will last a couple days, not a couple hours. Also, with the frequency of wifi spots all over, you will be surprised how much you can use that over edge. Apple made a deal with all starbucks that is rolling out. The iphone will tell you, if you leave wifi on, whenever there is a net in range. I get on other nets all the time when in the city, and don't use edge, just some free wifi spot, sometimes even from mcdonalds and places like that.

I used to have to carry my laptop with me everywhere, in case of emergency, plus my ipod, and my razr. Now I only take the iphone. It does what they all did for me. I moved my ipod connection from my glove box to a mount and even listen through my car stereo like I did my ipod, with full playlist control. When the phone rings, my song fades down, and I hear the ring from the phone, I answer with my bluetooth headset. And this is with my harmon kardon add on, which was made before the iphone. This also works in my boat with my clarion head, but its still in my glove box, so I don't use it, I use an old ipod nano. But it works the same as in my car, I have tried it.

I do agree, its all relative, but apple fanboy or not, this was the product I have been waiting for for years, and it has exceeded my expectations.

Oh yeah, I have a couple of games that use the acclererometer built into the iphone, what a kick.

Thanks Ragboy. I will do some searching later today. However, my concern is that the program that I created is specific to my needs and does exactly what I want. I would have to re-program (currently programmed in C#) this application for the iPhone and would take awhile to do that.

But, I am sure there is a program that would meet some of my needs but having the ability to create software myself, it is rather hard to get exactly what I want from other software. I am sure you understand what I mean.
