There's a panel in there I need to unbolt, but I'm guessing there are coils behind it.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

Yup, the the fans blow across the coils inside the freezer. If there is ice/frost blocking the airflow, you won't get any cold air circulating in the fridge.

I'd call a repair guy and have him give you an estimate. A new fridge is not cheap...the wife just dropped $2500 on one of those LG fridges with the french doors (freezer on the bottom).

Trying to find parts for these things is impossible with all the branding and rebranding going on.

Neither side gets cols, fans blow, compressor is hot....then this is your problem.
I bet if you pull it off and open it, it is burned to a crisp. They are designed to do so.

You can but a universal way cheaper than a model specific (which is what the repair man will likely try to do) like this.

It plugs onto the prongs, you wire up three wire nuts, and you are done. They are about $15 and take 5 minutes to install. Most of them a re the protection circuit and the relay all in one.

What happened on your fridge is the protection circuit melted, so the relay is still working, but the compressor is on, but no circulating freon. Fans are also turning. Things that cause this are age, and bad compressors, and faulty design. Chances are yours just got old.

Hmm. I'll give it a go. Thanks. Where would I find a universal?

Any fridge repair shop should sell you one. I found a "I buy your broke fridge and sell it to other people" guy and bought one for $12. You need to know the CuFt of the fridge so they can get the right size for you.
