    Houseboats with helicopters?!?!

Anyone that has been around some of the huge Lake Powell houseboats see one with a helicopter on top??? This monster was cruising up the intercoastal waterway on our way back from the islands this afternoon.

There was one like that on Old Hickory Lake last July 4th.

I've never seen them land a copter on one, but there are apparently 4 or 5 boats that are capable of that on T-rock.

I don't know that a Robbie (Robinson R-44) qualifies for a helicopter......a bumblebee maybe...LOL.....those things are so small, I can't even fit in one; too tall. My shins hit the dash.

They have them. They are called davits.,

I was charged with finding one for my inlaws 50' Gibson. In the end, they never decided to install one though. It would have had to lift a seadoo up over the side of the boat to the lower-top deck, around 12' or so from the water.

They also looked at some drive aboard options for their swim deck.

I grew up on Powell (well in Page actually but Powell sounds better for those of you that know Page) and saw a few houseboats that had the pad on top but never saw one actually land. Rumor had it that most of the celebrities that used the houseboats would fly in after the crew had taken and beached the houseboat up lake.

I know someone that was a private captain for someone's 70' Viking and they had a 17' Whaler that they kept on the foredeck. They had this to get it on and off the deck. It would definitely lift a ski or two.

Basically this same boat but with a whaler instead of a flats boat.
