Well, Mike leaves for Iraq next week. We went to a send off party for him last night. He seems like he is prepared to do what he needs to do. He tells me it is what he was born to do. I gotta say the Marines have really stepped up to the plate when it comes to training. Very impressed but still very concerned. I have some more to add to this. It might draw some attention and it is a long story so I will tell it a little later. Stay tuned, Tige M.D. might need a little help from you all.

At the beginning of this thread I had mentioned we were buying Michael his own high-tech body armor. We ended up raising $4750 of the $5250 needed. One of the people that helped out I had never met before, his name is David Delgado. He told me the letter I had writen pleading for donations touched a spot in his heart. He said he has never supported the war but has always supported the troops. (Please no politics, I don't care to argue with any of you). After a few conversations with David we have begun procedures to start a nonprofit organization to help supply our Marines with the absolute best equiptment made. Why do I say Marines and not Army? The Army has set a policy that any soldier killed wearing Dragon skin body armor will be denied ALL death benefits. My sister-n-law met a Army mom that bought her son a Dragon skin vest before he deployed. His command made him sign a waiver to his death benifits prior to deploying. Even though the Army can put a $ amount on her sons life, she could not. He is now serving proudly wearing his Dragon skin armor. All 9 U.S. Army generals in Iraq, their security detail, SEALS, snipers, Blackwater security and President Bush wear Dragon skin while in Iraq. WHY not the troops that realy need it? Must be a money thing? The bottom of the line Dragon skin provides 45% more protection than the standard issue vest. Michaels vest is as good as they get, neck, groin, side torrso, and shoulder protection. It weighs just 27lbs. Standard issue weighs 65+lbs. 65lbs!! Now strap on your water, ammo, radio, and anything else you might need and it quickly adds up to 85-90lbs. How can you fight weighing almost 100lbs. more than your own body weight. The Dragon skin can cut that weight in half! It will also stop 9mm, 45acp, 44mag, 00 buck, 223, 7.62 ak47, 308win, and fragmentation grenades. We have a meeting with the owner of Pinnacle Armor next week to work out some details.
We are trying to get 9 more vests for the rest of Mikes squad/platoon. If you are intersted in any type of donation or want to get involved let me know.
The organization will probably be called Civilians for Soldiers. We are aiming for every dollar donated 80-90% will got to the purchase of the vests.
I would like to some how get this in the jaws of the media, let them spin how ever they want. Also maybe write your congressman/woman?
Thanks for reading this, sorry it was so long.Greg Denton
