My first post, bought my tige from Lee at the end of last summer, but this hits close to home.

What they need depends on where they are going. I work full time in the Army National Guard and the Chinook Unit (big helicopter) that I support went to Iraq. They said that they had more baby wipes, toilet paper, writing paper than you could use in a life time. For the infantry types I read that silly string was in demand, used to find trip wires on IEDs.

Beer cans can be hidden in pringles cans, alcohol can be put in empty mouth wash bottles, just use your imagination. The only thing about the illegal items is for the individual not to get excessive and especially don't get caught. Commands frown on drunk personnel who are suppose to be alert, but will normally not look real hard for these items because they are probably getting them to.

By the way I am headed over that way at the end of the summer, but as a helicopter maintenance officer type I want be going outside the wire. I will check with my guys and see what they looked forward too.

A very good friend of mine passed away in Fallujah last summer so this post definitely hits home for me. He was a Marine in the 3rd LAR (infantry) battalion in Iraq. He always used to ask for Chapstick and Jolly Ranchers (both for himself and the Iraqi children). I definitely think a PayPal account is a great idea for people who want to help out but don't know what to get! Your nephew will be in my prayers Tige MD!!!

I would recommend any magazines (not porn), candy, sunflower seeds, pastashios (sp?), beef jerky type products, supplements etc. My wife was able to get a local store to send my group a whole box of beef jerky (that stuff is expensive) at no cost.
Also, any local Tshirts (restaurants or attrations) that they can't get. They do have full service exchanges on the camps which provide just about everything you need. We even had ice cream and when it hits 130 plus in the summer that is awesome.
I know where I was you couldn't get Muscle Milk protein. It's awesome and I had someone send my alot of that. We had an awesome gym in camp.

There is one thing that is easy to purchase and send. Prepaid calling cards are always welcome. You can buy them over there but having someone send you some is great (cause you don't have to buy them). Someone we nominate could make a paypal account and once everyone has donated we can buy the appropriate amount of cards and designate the above address to ship them. We could put TigeOwners on there as the shipper if it's allowed by the website.

Calling Cards. These cards are the best per minute for overseas that I have found.

Let me know what you guys think. I used about one every month or so.

I got a message from Mikes sister saying that he is having a rough time over there right now. It appears the military is not doing a very good job at feeding our troops. Can you beleive that they are trying to feed these guy's spoiled food! He says the food is prepaired, set out in the hot sun and left there for them to pick thru. Problem is they set it out while the boys are out on patrol, 5,6,7,10 hours later they get back to base and the food is still out.
This is his address (see above), if anyone feels the need to help he and his brothers like power bars, but anything would suffice. Also, maybe drop a letter of appreciation in the box, some pics of your weekend boating trips. Anything to remind them that we are behind them all-the-way.

When I was in the marines we had no trouble getting Playboy.
They sent a special edition on superthin newsprint kinda purple/grey paper, and none of the ads were included.

A letter writing campaign to Playboy, got us the newstand editions instead.


It could be that it's a ban by the local gov't where the servicepeople are stationed.
