Had to give up the Truck

This last weekend I traded in my gas guzzler, yet a truck that I loved. I got rid of my 2001 F-250 4x4 lifted with 35" on it. I was throwing away too much money on gas with it. I picked up my new chick car- a 2006 Scion tC

I am now in the process to get a truck to keep out at the river where I keep my boat to tow my boat to and from the launch ramp and the occational trip home for service. The decision came down to this- gas is only going up and my gas bills are going going up so by getting 2 cars I can now take advantage of unlimited gas in my wife's company car. We will use her car to travel to and from the river where my tow vehicle is waiting. The combo should net a savings over $2500 for this coming year. In the mean time I am just getting use to driving around at such a low level.

I know what you mean coach. I made a similar decision last september by leasing a car for my wife and parked her Yukon that averaged 12.5 mpg. I heard on the radio this morning that the oil companies said they had to raise prices again to recover from the shortfall caused by daylight savings. I am a capitalistic pig myself but this is getting rediculous.

I almost got a XB last year because gas was killing me and I needed to save my 99 Yukon (150,000 miles) for towing...I was sitting in the parking lot across the street from the Toyota dealer just about ready to buy it, last sec. I changed my mind and went to the Dodge dealer and got a 06 Charger......

Did the same thing at the end of 05. Left the 03 Silverado Crew Cab in Havasu and picked up a 95 Cirrus for $1000. Gets just under 30 MPG driving to the river. Also moved my office from 45 miles away to 10 miles. Cirrus has had some minor issues but with the increased mpg and location changes I am still ahead. Whenever I go to Havasu though I realize how much I miss driving the truck. Like being able to see over other cars.
        Let it be!!!

Scion, wasn't that those things in Star wars. The bad guys?

We got rid of our "Little Truck" in favor of a more gas friendly Acura TL last year.

          I feel your pain

Oil prices are going down, not sure why gas is going up? We are still selling at a lower rate to the stations, guess they are getting greedy now.

Pfft..I think its hilarious that oil companies raise there prices because of this. Seems like they can justify everything for the price hike. If you fart in the wrong direction gas prices go up.

I thought about getting another F-250 PSD (have had 2 already) but the price of diesel just keeps climbing and has kept me away. Can anybody explain to me why the hell diesel is more than gas? I remember having my F-250s a few years ago and diesel was always cheaper than gas.

Huh? The whole reason Congress changed daylight savings time was to save energy. How does that work?

                              Matt,

Move to the left coast, diesel is cheaper here by 30 cents

As far as diesel being more expensive now I posted this ealier, but will post again.

Due to the GOP party stepping in and saying we need to cut back on emmissions they think that lowerig the amount of sulfur is one way. If you look on the pump now you see that it's the ULSD. Well to get that low of a sulfur diesel, you now have to use a more expensive crude. Before you could just use what ever you wanted to make diesel. Since you have to use a more expensive crude, diesel goes up.

As far as gas prices going up, I have no idea, I think that the gas stations are just wanting more money, and they know they can charge it.
