Now that's what I've heard from someone too, but I think that is a lie as well. He already purchased a certain amount that is in the tanks below. Unless he only gets billed for the gas the day it is used there is no way that argument makes sense. Maybe that is the way it works but it doesn't make sense.

My Wife has about a dozon convenience stores insured, most of them rent the pumps and are paid based on the number gallons sold not a % based on price per gallon. They are given the price per gallon daily by the distrubutor, and if they sell for less, the dist. will lock the pump.

          that's correct chpthrill.

They get billed when they buy the gas, so if they sell it for more the next day how are they not making more money?

What chpthrill says makes the most sense. The convience store gets $.10 a gallon and the distributor that filled their tanks tells them what to charge everyday. The distributor makes all the money from the prices being higher.

I would agree with that, except when different stations of the same brand that are owned by the same person charge different rates.

All I know is my brother is an accountant @ Chevron and he was paid an $8,000 dollar bonus. He is just one of a zillion employees.

I'm sure the station owner/manager guy didn't see any of that.

Your so true! My vette gets driven sundays and that's about it The good ole corolla gets driven all over, and let me tell you i'm racking the miles up!

I'm all for everyone boycotting, but it really won't matter. The oil is going down, the price is going up, the gas stations are getting greedy now.

Someone come up with a hydrogen car, and well then there you go, the oil price will hit rock bottom then.
The only problem I see with hydrogen fuel cell cars is, hydrogen comes from water. We in SoCal don't have enough of that either. Could you imagine how much fuel costs would hinge on the weather! UC Irvine resently opened a public hydrogen fuel station. $8.00 per gallon. They claim that you can get twice the energy from 1 gallon of hydrogen vs. 1 gallon of gas.
Because certain parts of the country have different strong points this is what propose.
All states with a large amount of rainfall/water per year should push the hydrogen vehicle
Midwest/cornbelt states can run their E85
The left over states (Cal, Az, Nev) run natural gas.
                    Just a thought.
Got my fuel bill figured out for last month. If I were still driving the Grand Prix I would have spent close to $350+/- to drive to work for a month (while carpooling). The CNG Civic cost me $98+/- (drove solo 6 times). I'm love'n it!

If gas prices keep going up it wont be long before people start hijacking gas trucks and sell gas on black market......I can see it now people going down a back alleyway with gas cans to buy stolen gas for $2.00 gallion..

                          Heres the advantage of hydrogen....

Hydrogen-fuel-cell-powered cars are the best alternatives to polluting, gasoline-powered cars for several reasons: (1) the cars are completely emission-free, (2) the fuel cells have no moving parts, (3) hydrogen is renewable and abundant, (4) the cars are compatible with cold weather, (5) the fuel cells are compact and lightweight--not overly bulky or heavy, (6) the cars are about 3 times as efficient as gasoline-powered cars, (7) the cars will have incredible mile ranges, (8) the tanks will be refueled quickly, and (9) hydrogen is safe, has been tested rigorously for use in vehicles, and is being used in many vehicles already

I found a couple of website with TONS of information!!

They are building "hydrogen highways", one of which is being built in Vancouver. They not only use hydrogen in a fuel cell, but they also compress it and run it in a normal internal combustion engine.

yeah the problem is that this is the least efficient way to make hyrdrogen, It's only 10% efficient, hence why they are not doing it now.
