Well, looks like we either have to be a communist nation or support terrorism to an extent to have lower gas prices.

evilOne, thanks for the links. Those are great and I can see that the gas stations by my house are $.18 more than ones that are 5+ miles away.

You think you have it bad? This mornings news showed gas in San Francisco at one station at $4.33 for unleaded and 4.59 for premium! Where in the f*** do they get off charging that?! I paid $3.38 yesterday in the valley!

Last year people said we will never see gas under $2.00 again now I don't think we will ever see gas go under $3.00 again, not when gas is $4.33 and still going up. Why would the gas co. not want to make more money if we have to pay it.....

On the river 2 weeks ago it was $4.10 a gallon. My guess it will be about $4.25 on the water next trip out. By memorial day we will be seeing close to $4.00 a gallon.

Red Diesel is for off-road vehicles only (mainly farm equipment). It's not taxed, and therefore quite a bit cheaper.

As far as using it in your boat.... you know... I seriously never thought of that. But Probably! You could make a serious argument. I don't know how that would work.

Let me make a correction and say that "Red Diesel" is not really tax free... it's just not taxed as heavily.

Dyed diesel does not have the road use tax added in. In theory, the vehicles that run ut will not be used on the road, so I assume a boat would be allowed to.

I heard that in some states you can save your receipts and get a refund on the road tax for the gas you put in your boat.

But then why is gas on the water still more expensive?

                            Hmmmm, interesting.

I know some people who just fill up w/ their company card and write off the boat gas as part of their trucks fuel usage... dont know who would be shameless enough to do that.

It's been tempting at times, but saving $100 is not worth losing $100000

Gas is more expensive on the water for a few reasons.

                                1) Supply and Demand. They have it, you want it so they charge you for the "convience"

                                2) It costs more to take it there, as well as dispense it there. They have to have more safety features to keep the gas off the water and what not.

Make sense zad? There is other stuff too, but that's the down and dirty.
