Here is an explaination for the Diesel A$$POUNDING we are taking:
How come diesel fuel*—in Missouri and elsewhere—costs so much more than the regular stuff? Global demand. Historically, diesel has often been cheaper than regular gas. But with the rest of the world—including fast-growing China and India—so reliant on diesel, U.S. refiners have increased their exports abroad. While European refiners export gasoline to the United States, some tankers return with diesel to fulfill high demand across the Atlantic. Reduced supplies in the United States mean diesel is, on average, about 65 cents per gallon more expensive than gasoline.
While diesel and gasoline both use the same basic raw ingredient—crude oil—they require a different refining process. Given diesel's higher price, refiners almost certainly would produce more if they could, but it may take them years to build that additional capacity.

Thanks to our "representatives" in Wash DC and the now required ULSD formulation, "our" diesel is now meets wider global standards. It doesn't make sense now to run an empty tanker over to Europe to pick up gasoline that is Europe's byproduct of the diesel-making process.
As an aside, I'd be something of a nervous wreck sitting in the wheelhouse of a tanker full of gasoline. Might even have to take up smoking, NOT!

Probably not going boating this weekend since next weekend we have a camping trip that we are taking the boat. I was hoping it didn't come to this.

Saturday morning 2 weeks ago I filled up for $2.17. We had been pretty steady for a few months. Since then it has jumped up $ .28 over the next 2 weeks. It has actualy leveled off since the market "corrected"
Don't know if the oil Co's are getting ready for Spring Break/Easter ?
What's your thoughts?
