When I was 17 I hit a limo in my dad's brand new range rover as I was changing lanes so it was a real minor corner to corner tap, both cars were still drivable. My dad was out of town and for pure punishment my mom made me go to the airport to pick him up and he gave me that look I knew meant he was "dissapointed". It was fixed and the premium didn't even go up cause the limo company didn't report the accident ever.

She learned that she is not the only one using the road and hopefully will continue to watch out for others being stupid, even dogs."I want to know God's thoughts, the rest are just details"

Thank God no one was injured. He was a little sore this morning but ok. Nothing hurt but the car and his pride No real loss, I bought this car 18 mons ago as a parts car for another VW that I have. My son ended up driving it to work and school because it gets 3x the gas mileage that his Jeep gets.
So know I am going to strip of what I wanted in the first place and scrap the body.
This thing took a hard lick. The driver and left pass. doors are gapped open at the top about 1" and the left edge of the trunk lid also. The right fender is pushed into the right front door so it only opens about 1/2 way. The left side and top are bathed in antifreeze, washer fluid, and battery acid. Trans case is busted.
The woman was going about 55 (in a 45) and never hit the brakes. As my son put it "she drove through me" and came to rest 200 feet past the point of impact (which is up hill) and knocked him for a 360 back into the parkinglot.
Always new VW made a safe car
I am still in shock that they let a Volkswagon in NC. I thought there would be some sort of back lash in NASCAR country for owning a "foreign" car. A buddy of 69Bug just moved back to NC and left his 69 Camero SS here with his Jetta, we kept telling him just to sell the Jetta because no one in NC has a VW (looks like we are wrong)Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm.

Animals running into cars is a family thing. My dad had a truck we called the deer magnet. He had two different deer run into him at two different times, both times he got completely stopped then they continued and jumped into him. I think they must have been blinded by the light. Then he got even and smeared one all over the highway, the funny thing is the two that hit him caused more damage than the one he hit doing 60+.
Anyway Chpthril glad your son was okay. VW vs Suv isn't usually good for VW, and from the way it looks if he'd gotten a few more feet, NOT GOOD.My dad always said "Stupid Hurts". He's yet to be proven wrong, but for some reason I keep trying.

Everything happens to the wife, and i do mean EVERYTHING! Lets see she taken out a coyote (brains are orange, gross!), an albatross (seriously!), a covey of quail (the whole thing!), crows, squirrels, cats, numerous smaller fowl and even had a buzzards butt plastered against the windshield! I've teased her for years i'm going to get animal stickers to put on the car doors!
Back on 12/20/94 she had merged onto the four lane slab after Xmas shopping and a tractor trailer rig changed lanes and clipped the rear bumper, spinning the car sideways and pinning it to the grill of the truck at 60 mph! After 200 yards of getting pushed down the freeway she shot off the truck and hit three other cars! The only part of the car not damaged was the roof and the right rear quarter panel! Amazingly she wasn't hurt more than a pulled muscle in her back and some permanent nerve damage. Car was totaled of course but the craziest thing about it was the CHP wanted her to drive the car with collapsed front suspension stating it was ok! Needless to say we files a complaint report with CHP and asked if their officers were certified mechanics to make that assumption!"Call me anything you want ... Just don't call me NOBODY!
