    Think It Will Buff Out

My son pulled out in front of an SUV yesterday morning on his way to work.
Thank God no one was injured. He was a little sore this morning but ok. Nothing hurt but the car and his pride No real loss, I bought this car 18 mons ago as a parts car for another VW that I have. My son ended up driving it to work and school because it gets 3x the gas mileage that his Jeep gets.

So know I am going to strip of what I wanted in the first place and scrap the body.

This thing took a hard lick. The driver and left pass. doors are gapped open at the top about 1" and the left edge of the trunk lid also. The right fender is pushed into the right front door so it only opens about 1/2 way. The left side and top are bathed in antifreeze, washer fluid, and battery acid. Trans case is busted.

The woman was going about 55 (in a 45) and never hit the brakes. As my son put it "she drove through me" and came to rest 200 feet past the point of impact (which is up hill) and knocked him for a 360 back into the parkinglot.

Always new VW made a safe car

I'd scrap the seats as well, at least the drivers one. It probably has a nice stain in it. Mine would.

Oh man, it was a GLI too. Bummer, good little cars. Don't scrap the seats, those are Recaro man. Detailers can work wonders.

Glad he is OK. Looks a pretty hard lick.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

                Thanks everyone.

The Recaros are going in my Cabrio this weekend. I am also swaping the bigger front brakes and the whole rear axle w/disc

I wanted the trany because it has a better 1st,2nd and 3rd ratio but it busted the case.

Looks like you may need a little pull time w/the buff.
I almost did that to a mustang on sunday. Had to swerve had the kids in the truck w/me.

Hope it makes you think and pay attention. Most accidents are preventable.

Glad he's okay. How did that phone call go. I had a way cool dad and he was always able to control the temper. I know you said not his fault, but he is a kid. I hope I will be able to have my dad's patience over the next few years, I have three driving and one isn't even mine, the German foriegn exchange student. My good hands agent says he's covered as long as I'm the gaurdian and have him listed as driver. Good luck on the parts salvage.
My dad always said "Stupid Hurts". He's yet to be proven wrong, but for some reason I keep trying.

I'm thinking he'll look twice next time. One of the best things that happened to my daughter a month after getting her license was she was hit by a dog. The dog was running out in the street she was able to get stopped and then the dog continued on and hit her, it ran off and we assume it was fine. She learned that she is not the only one using the road and hopefully will continue to watch out for others being stupid, even dogs.
