Is it just me or did the Grammy Awards feel like an "Anti Bush Rally"? And the winner is.....Dixie Chicks....5 Times. You are telling me that the Dixie Chicks are the hottest thing going on in music right now? Of course, the crowning pinnacle was when Al Gore showed up. Too much political bias for me.

Not to mention Jimmy Carter.
Carter was not present at the music industry’s biggest event, which was held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
Former President Bill Clinton won spoken-word Grammys in 2004 and 2005, as did his wife, U.S. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, in 1997 while she was still first lady.
Mrs. Clinton’s rival for the Democratic presidential nomination, U.S. Sen. Barack Obama, won a Grammy last year for the audio-book version of his book “Dreams From My Father.”
Dee was present to accept her award.
“I feel like a rock star, or something,” she said, subsequently referring to her husband. “I truly believe he is present today.”
The other nominees were comedians Bob Newhart, Bill Maher and Al Franken.

Carter is the guy who complained there were "too many Jews" on the Holocaust Memorial Council. And who recently had 14 people resign from his Carter Center Board which was financed by The Bank of Credit and Commerce International (BCCI), founded by Pakistani Agha Hasan Abedi. Interestingly, Carters peanut farm was bailed out by a 4.6 million dollar highly irregular loan from the National Bank of Georgia (NBG). The bank's biggest borrower was Carter, and its chairman at that time was Bert Lance who later became Carters director of the Office of Management and Budget.
At that time, Lance's mismanagement of the NBG got him and the bank into trouble. Agha Hasan Abedi came to Mr. Lance's rescue making him a $100,000-a-year consultant. Abedi then declared: "we would never talk about exploiting his relationship with the president." Next, he introduced Mr. Lance to Saudi billionaire Gaith Pharaon, who fronted for BCCI and the Saudi royal family. In January 1978, Abedi paid off Mr. Lance's $3.5 million debt to the NBG, and Pharaon secretly gained control over the bank.
I wonder why Carter is so compassionate to the Arab world and blames Israel for all the Middle Easts problems???? He and his foundation has accepted hundreds of millions from Arab countries.
He is a disgrace to the Country and the Presidency. What kind of press would Gingrich or Cheney get if they took millions from Arab financiers??? I doubt they would get a grammy.
Sorry for the political rant. thought i was on a different forum But sometimes its more fun to talk politics than ballastLast edited by scottcarlye; 02-12-2007, 02:12 PM.

I am not a fan of self inflating stars that need to prove their importance over and over again. I guess record sales and concerts don't validate the fact the people enjoy their music. As usual some winners are a good calls while many are not. I didn't watch one lick of the show and just checked out the winners. How many catagories do they have?
Some good calls- Dani California (once would have been enough)
Slayer won a grammy!!!! Did they show up? Did Kerry King get up and speak? My guess is no and they wouldn't show it anyway.
Wolfmother with Woman good call
Gnarls Barkley
Poor Calls- Stadium Arcadium ok album but overall many songs sounded the same (there are 30+ of them)
Dixie Chicks- come on that was the best of 2006?!
Madonna, Springstein, and Dylan (what year are we in and why do they keep making up catagoies for these artists)
What about The Killers, My Chemical Romance
No AFI????? I thinks is might be one of the Best albums in the last 10+ years and nothing?
Maybe the Grammy's should get off their political soap box and start looking at more at why they have the show, Music. Speaking of soap boxes I will be stepping down now.Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm.

You guys are cracking me up. I didn't watch the Grammys, but on my drive into work this morning, I was thinking : "What the heck is the deal with NPR, are they the most Republican hating people ever or what?"
And I'm and Independant.."I want to know God's thoughts, the rest are just details"

Still won't listen, or buy anything by or about the Dixie Chicks... They rate right up there with Barbara Streisand et.al. They would be very happy living in France...don't you think??? Cheese eating, wine drinking surrender monkeys...
One of the local NPR stations is KCRW from the independent republic of Santa Monica. My friends and I call it K Communist Radio for the Westside...
