    Music Library Organizational Strategy

I'm kind of ashamed to admit it, but I am just now getting around to loading up my ipod. I just passed the 1k song mark, and I am about 1/4 of the way through my library. I know some of you guys are managing much larger libraries, so give me some tips on how you organize your stuff.

I know Itunes will let you set up playlists, and even smart playlists so I guess that is where I will start, but I'm not looking forward to setting it up.

I don't have any problem because i keep it simple. I have on file, 8.1GB, 1,875songs on my external hard drive. Each is labeled by: artist - song name. Then again i don't bother sorting by title, genre, albums or any thing else. KISS strategy works everytime!

I am up to 4800 songs. I have some playlist set up with all of my songs minus christmas music and my wifes stuff. It took me a while to update all of my songs from other sources (napster, limewire, MXPro, etc...) Now when I get songs I update the info right away and it is good. I keep everything by artist then it will put it in album catagories. Plus I tunes uploaded the album art as well (I am still into the album art). I just like putting it on shuffle and let it go. I do have things broken down like Old School Rap, 80's Hair Bands, Metaliica, etc...
