Thats why I got out. when I was younger, I didn't really care or think about it much. But then I got to a point where I just couldn't be the bad guy or go knock on some poor womans door and ask the question - "Hey, your kid just died, how does that make you feel?" Add to that, within the first three months that my first daughter was born, I was gone for 5 weeks. WRONG!! That was ultimately the final straw. The best part is, I told them about my concerns and they said.....well ok, one more trip.....ok, maybe one more. They were totally stringing me along.
Looking back its almost embarrasing. But when you are young, you are a complete adrenaline junky, and that business feeds you adrenaline if you are out in the field. One day I found myself strapped in and standing at the edge of the rear ramp on a C-130 at 13,000 feet above County stadium in Milwaukee during a Packers Bears game....holding a $70,000 camera on my shoulder. You wanna talk about adrenaline. DAMN.
