    Possible Move to SoCal

My name has come up for a promotion in SoCal and I was wondering where to live if I get this. I have two boys 14 and 10 and would like a good schools for them. I would be running a District that includes Bakersfield, San Luis Obispo, Riverside, Long Beach, Burbank, Coachella and San Diego. I do not know where my office would be but it could be Long Beach. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Being a teacher and a coach I chose 10 years ago to move to Yorba Linda. I teach in my boundary area and our schools are top notch. Outside of Irvine schools we have some of the top in the state. Orange County is a great place to live. You are close (used very loosely) to many of the locations you mentioned. Biggest problem with moving to So Cal if you are from out of state is the prices of the homes. San Diego is very nice but that would put you on one end of your territory specturm. Coachella (hot), Riverside (too much traffic coming and going), Long Beach has good and bad, SLO is one of my favorite towns but again on the end of the spectrum. OC or some areas in LA County (not the main city) would put you close to 4 territories. If you have any questions about a city you can PM me, that way I don't offened anyone.

I see you are from No Cal so price of the home is not as big of an issue if you are from out of state

Check out Valencia for a cental location to your district. Further south there's Canyon Lake or Temecula, both with private lakes.

              All,

Thank you for the feedback. I have a buddy that lived in Yorba Linda for 13 years prior to moving to NorCal and he absolutely loved it. As this gets closer I will have to come down and check out all of the areas to see what the best fit is. We also have to consider where the best Ice Hockey is, gotta keep the boys playing since they are the future of the NHL. Just kidding but a dad can dream. There are a lot of good clubs in SoCal producing some very good youth hockey players and I wouldn't be suprised to see some of these kids playing pro in a few years, Hockey in Cali, who would have thought. How are the lakes on the weekends? I would assume they get packed.

Sean - Bako is not SoCal it is Northern LA. I t was good talking and meeting you, post some pics of the bench once it is done.

              I do appreciate the feedback.

Put Covina Hills on your list to check out... Good schools...relatively centrally located and the price of housing will be less expensive than the OC...although I can't argue with Coach... Yorba Linda is a nice area...

South Hill is our local HS. I live north of the 10 around Kellogg Hill if you are familiar with the general area...

It's not a bad spot from a central location standpoint. Good access to all the freeways heading to all the points that was described in the post...
