Great thread bfrank. I have read through it a couple times over the past two weeks as I have been going through interview hell the last couple weeks. I am in consideration for two different career changing possitions. One company three interviews and the other four with one more to go with the CEO of each company. I am hoping for some kind of bidding war, but would actually be excited to work for either company. I don't post as much as others, but feel the Tigé family love. The trickiest question so far has been, "How much can you handle?" Both companies are in the construction industry and have under contract over a $350,000,000 in projects and going to double that this next year and continue to grow. I just got the call for the last interview for this Firday with the company with the most potential growth for me. They will be offering me a salary package some time after that. How do you say I want the job with lots of time to play with my Tigé? I have been running several of my own companies for over 15 years. It is going to be tough to work for someone else, but the upside is great with where these companies are going. I guess I'll see what someone thinks this dumb carpenter is worth, and decide if it's right for me.

AS for how much you can handle, I've always liked it when an applicant says they need to balance their work life with some recreational time. Don't give specifics Ie 40hrs a week work, weekends play etc. Just say something like: " I work hard so I can relax, the relaxation fuels me to work harder" Something like that. Everyone has a balance point.

OWN - Good luck as well on the job interviews. The good thing about our area is that the real estate has not slowed down! I have been acquiring a few investment properties and the prices and pace just keeps on going up! Whereever you land, let me know if you ever run across some good deals!

Turns out the last interviews were'nt the final inteviews, but I now am the new VP over residential construction with Hogan and Associates. This is an incredible opportunity to start a new division with in this company building huge luxury homes, condos and hotels. Now the real work starts I have to secure some of the projects they have been looking into. There was one draw back, and that was, as of yesterday I didn't have an offer and then 2 today, the other company doesn't like me very well right now, but I did what was good for me and mine. It may have been different had the other company hired me a month ago. Now on to the selling, does anybody want to buy a home in Promentory Ranches (private golf community in Park City) starting prices in the low 3 million range, or maybe a condo right on Main Street in Park City. Just pm me with the details of how many and what you want and I'll get to work on it as soom as I get done celebrating for the weekend.
