na, my snowboard helmet is a bern baker, and you can use it to wakeboard too!! I listen to my ipod as well, just run a bud up the side of me, and it works great. Haven't seen any helmets with blue tooth yet, could be a good idea.

I'll bring my helmet. But I probably won't do anything that would require it.

Forget all that other stuff, just get yourself some hockey gear (minus the skates) and you're good to go

yeah might as well!! that would offer great protection.

          Tequilla,

I did a double back flip on a blue, cactching an edge, basically knocked myself out, hence why I now wear a helmet. It's not the trees taht get you, it's those easy runs. I have fallen harder on a green then most blues, those darn flat spots getcha everytime.!

Don't start messing with music while your learning to snowboard, it will be a distraction. You will be and need to be focused on what your doing while learning for your safetly and the safety of others. If your really struggling, pay the $50 bucks and get a lesson, I'm serious that has helped more people I know than not. I've snowboarded for 18 yrs or so and am fairly decent but remember what it was like to learn, and I see a lot of people my age trying to learn and WOW what a sight!! Have fun and kick ***!

Very true, I say board for half day, then take a lesson! that way you have a better understanding.

Shoot, I have been snowboarding for a long time and take the "Steep and Deep" lessons at Jackson just for fun, it's more like a guided tour without the cost of a guide. Plus the folks that live and work on the mountain know about some of the baddest @$$ secret spots. I know, most people think that is crap but I have been going there for over 7 years and this Jan I joined a class and found out about some areas over on the edge of Saratoga Bowl that I had never noticed before, untracked! Plus then we went to the Moose and got free beers since I was hanging out with him waiting for my wife to meet me there, this is only her third season so she takes all day lessons. I am extremely fortunate she does not mind me ditching her most of the time.

Great points. I am a big believer in lessons as well. I told my wife there was not way we were going to learn without taking a lesson. A lot of places have something called the Burton Snowboard school. It apparently is geared towards teaching women to snowboard, and I would like to get her into that type of lesson as well.

This is exactly why I HAVE to learn to snowboard. I would be content to ski, but I know I would be itchin to leave her and go ski while she knocked it around the bunny slopes.

What is making it possible for me to ski this year, is that her sister can't go (also a snow sport newbie) so my wife is staying home as well. I figure we can get them into lessons, and I (and the other dudes) can go rip it up without fear of retributions. Ah, who am I kidding, I'll find someway to get myself in trouble...no doubt about it.

Let's get this sucker back on track though, anyone know of good Local Microbrews in the Keystone, Dillon or Breckenridge areas?

as far as the lessons, I really would NOT do the really beinner one, all they teach you how to do is the "falling Leaf" and it's absoultly pointless. Get on a board, and just healside all the way down, how not to snowboard!! take the next one up. Just IMO

                                Tequilasun,
Buy some wrist guards, they are only around $20 - $30 and will likely save you from some sprained or even broken wrist. As you probably know, wrist injuries are very common in learning to snowboard.
