We are far lower tech. We put 8 - 10 tubes in a circle and have 5 guys with lighters. Of course no one leaves the circle until theirs are lit.
Incentive to make sure you are lighting, huh...

We learned abot tying things down the first year we did the semi-pro show. There was a pretty impressive 6-shot piece called the silver bullet. It was real powerful, and had nice stuff in the air. Problem was the pop charge was strong enough to knock the thing over, and the next five shots were typically horizontal, each in a totally random direction...

        Duck kids!

the local guy we see in MD has an example of a single 8" diameter ball.

We have some pretty hot mortars round here now.

Used to be we used muffler pipe for our mortar tubes, but these new ones will not fit. They are too big.....

                ROFL!

When younger and staying briefly in Memphis, we laid a bottlerocket on the road and shot it towards an intersection. Perfect distance for the rocket to scream into the intersection and have the charge go off... Oops.

                  lol.

We got to the point of using anything we could get our hands on.

yeah... too funny. it is a good thing lady luck has kept me and friends safe.

I do look forward to the 4th though. Loads of family, friends, beer, boating and a chance to hide that I am a pyro.

Have to head to HD to get SS screws to mount the GPS docking station in the Fustard Neal (have to get picts and post them!)

I had started trying to recreate a concussion shot back then... You know, nothing in the air, just a big boom that kind of hit you in the chest. WE were using black poder and sawdust. IT was SO random.. One shot good, next a dud.

The day I quit was the day I domed out the 1/4" base of one of my HEAVY steel tubes I had welded up for the experiment. Knocked pictures off the wall of the house we were near, (roughly 1/8th mile) and drive the tube about 6" into the ground. The threat of shrapnel after that one pretty much taught us we were not smart enough to realize our quest safely.

That is crazy. At least better than shipping some shiny screws that WEREN'T stainless that would rust anyway...

WOW... yes, that certainly would be a wake-up call.

a former buddy of mine has a license to and packs his own bullets. Let's just say that he is a creative sort. He has a place in the mountains where he tries out his experiments. We did one day sit an experiment on the side of the road and blew out a 3 foot section of concrete curbing. The thing is that the explosive was just sitting on the road not contained at all.

Yeah... agreed and I need them for other things that I am about to mount e.g., (fuse, dbs, etc.)
