No, actually, when falling, lean away from the boat. That way the boat doesn't help you smack the water.

I barefooted and skied as a kid. Now I am trying to wakeboard... tonight I cleared a wake to wake... the next time I buried the nose of the board in the far wake and face-slammed/catapulted on my head.
