I am hovering around 17-20 lbs loss so far. The weekends are killing me and the GF decided that the diet isn't for her anymore. So, she makes these larger than real dinners again. I keep on telling her that I want to lose weight but again, I think it is also time to start an exercise program with the diet. I am playing softball now and it's warmer so we can hit the lake but I think I need to put maybe a 15-20 minute bike ride into this mix. What do you think?
One without the other, (diet and exercise) is better than nothing, but you should be looking for a long term goal of a healthy lifestyle; one that is manageable, easy, and fun. You will live a lot longer, have lower blood pressure, lower resting heart rate, lower cholesterol, more stamina... You will feel better, have more energy, look younger...
I know, I sound like an infomercial, but it is all true, I am walking proof of the total package.
Heck yeah you need to do some cardio. Walk briskly or bike briskly or anything similar that will cause your pule to elevate, exert yourself a little and break a sweat. Consider starting out a couple times a week for 30 minutes at a time, but consider moving up as you get comfortable with it.
I did 50 minutes on the stationary bike yesterday, and I had a wet towel from wiping perspiration when I was done...It's not an optical illusion.
It just looks like one.....

It is good to know too that you have variety to take advantage of... IF you were only doing treadmill for example, you might find one day that you feel more like a gerbil in a wheel..
Anything man, have fun! It's not an optical illusion.
