I am inclined to think similarly about my boat were I to be selling it. The thing is low hours, stored indoors, waxed twice a year minimum, blah blah blah... I think I am above NADA as well.... The trick is finding someone who agrees with you...

Put the thing on the market at the price you think it should bring, and justify it in words.....

Unfortunately to you Da, the used boat market will be a "buyers market" right now, due to gas, housing, and the econ in general.

I have to say I agree on that point too..

My new toy was offered at $7K.

I bought it for $3K

What's sad is, the news described the price per barrel drop yesterday from $111 to $107 a major plummet.

Just a few months ago we thought that $76 a barrel was high, now they want us to feel good that it dropped 4 dollars down to $107

And, the boat is at the dealers shop being sold. They are not charging me anything to sell it. I have repaired the gelcoat issues that I thought were fiberglass as well as the torn cushion on the boat. There are two tears (one is .75 inches that have been somewhat fixed). The 75 hour servicing has just been done also. The boat is in above NADA average price.... FYI

Price as high as you can with out running off any potential buyer, just be prepared to get less then what you thought the market should bring.

It will take publications like NADA a while to reflect the slow down. Just look at the number of new 07's left on dealer's lots that they are discounting so they can move them.

You will see this in a matter of weeks with things like Ebay, and other real time sales figures, but published values will take time to see.

A smart dealer would probably put a price on a trade 10% less then what he would have 6 months ago, even though this it the time that boats should start moving.

when I was whole-selling used cars, I used Black Book on Palm instead of the paper version that came out monthly. I was able to market changes because I was able to update weekly with the latest auction figures from the week before.

Retail numbers generated by NADA and Kelly Blue Book, will take longer to reflect.
