I am going to be installing another row of bumpers on my dock so I can use the wind to my advantage regardless of direction. I really prefer to pull up and kill forward momentum about a foot away from the dock, and tehn let the wind blow me on. There are a lot of tricks that can be performed with what are called spring lines... I may go see if I can find a site that speaks to the use. It is amazing what you can do with one piece of rope, placed correctly, to take advantage of the prevailing conditions, (wind and/or current).It's not an optical illusion.
