Go Google Search, and do a google earth search; fly around and look at the abandoned never fully developed housing and marina areas.

Then search North Shore Salton Beach for images of the deserted yacht club..

Horrible sickening stench when the fish kill-offs happen; wonderful weird eerie place. REad up on it; you are close enough to go do a day trip to explore this fornmerly glorious completely abandoned place.

It is about 50 miles south of Palm Springs...

well i'm trying to read up, the birds have died, and it has gotten saltier, but not sure yet.
