back to the charger. Do you think I should not use all three ports, and go from the switch to all six on one and the odd one on the other.

Without knowing the charger, I do not know if it is happy with outputs paralleled or not. I would think that if you had two banks, one on position 1, and the other on position 2 that you would only use two ports from the charger.

I just cannot make my head make sense of tying two ports in parallel to charge with. What does the owner's manual say?

i have no idea, I didnt' see anything in the manual, but this would explain the amps not working as not enough power and the alt couldn't keep up.

I'll check that. just run a wire to the switch to charge all six and the swtich to charge the one, or actually I can't do that as I don't have enough studd left so I could just put it on the battery. I'll have to look because technically it would be charging all 6 batts on 2 of the ports, and then the 1 on the other, and if I don't turn the switch off then it's charging all 7 on all3 ports, so I guess for one I should always turn it off. I need to run an always hot to the HU so I don't loose my presets

That just feels like trying to tie the output of two amplifiers together to put more power into a speaker; do you see the analogy? MAybe the batt charger is okay with it, but my gut says the charger outputs will not like being tied together...

Phil, sounds like you are going to have a long weekend with a lot of different events (boat show, crown molding, ...)

because I only started having issues after the batteries had been used a bit,and if the charger is not really charging them but thinks they are.... could be an issue. HOWEVER the alt would charge them so this is why they would work at the lake for a bit, till the charge wore out. this makes pretty good sense to me.

That would be my recommendation...

Just know it will take a lot longer to charge the bank of six when compared to the bank of one...

One other thought:

Use all three charger outputs, just disconnect one of the wires between the batts on the 6 bank so that you CAN use all three banks of the charger. Then reconnect the two "charging banks" of three batts each back into a single six-battery bank after charging...

It might be quicker...
