      Neither of these are the motor that goes on this boat; too small.

      The one on the left is one I rebuilt for a buddy, the one on the right is one of mine; 18-horsepower, new piston rings, new everything...

          good eye, exactly one year betwen the two. BTW, they both start quite well; by the second pull for both.

          Here is the motor going on the Bellcraft; in this pic not totally complete. It is still not totally done, but is quite close

              I took a guess. I have a 50:50 chance....

              That engine looks really nice. How much work have you put into it???? I would say quite a bit.....

                Not too much actually. The old OMC motors are so bullet-proof... If they have compression, they will run. Lower unit gears are the only scary thing...

                Typically you take one, check its compression, and if the compression is good, you do a total rebuild on the magneto, totally rebuild the carb, totally rebuild the lower unit and replace all of the oil seals, and replace the water pump. At that point, and again, if it had good compression, you will have a motor that will go on a boat and run. The rest is just cosmetics...
