    da.bell,

put your thinking cap on. ,ok got it?

I'm installing 4 3" pc fans into the two compartments that I have the amps in. I'm putting one on the blower inlet bottom. What it looks like is a 3 in PVC pipe hanging down about 4 inches inside my compartment. I need to make some sort of spacer around the end, attach it and this way I can screw the fan to that spacer.

Why I'm doing this is the tube you see in the pic goes to a vent under the window. I want to be able to turn the fan on to suck in cool/fresh air from outside. When I turn the blower on it will now suck both compartments of the old air and still supply plenty of air for the motor box. I'll then have two more vents with fans attached to them to also blow air out if I don't want to turn the blower on (IE anchored with no motor running)

What I was thinking about doing was getting a cheap cutting board from wal'mart, cutting it square then drilling the hole out in the middle. Glueing it to the pipe, as well as placing 4 screws(1 on each side) though the board as well as the pipe.

think this would work? can you think of anything else I might try instead, Minus cutting the pipe off, and flush mounting the fan?

    Thanks.

AFter the install I'm going to go buy some white sheets and I'm going to cover the entire inside in sheets so that way it stays cleaner, and the vinyl doesn't get as dirty. think it will help?
It is the small holes in the cover that will get you. The problem with Bako is that there are winds that will kick up the dirt and then you are screwed. As for the sheets, you can be a little more accurate in the covering of the seats in relationship to the boat cover. Now, I don't know how much more effort you want but I also know you want a lot of ventilation around the seats for them to dry. Maybe leave the sheets away and when you are going out for the day, do a quick wipe down of the seats.

That sounds like it would work. but, I would go to the dollar store to get those boards. They should have them for, let say, $1. he he he

Actually, the Dollar Store would work perfectly along with some Liquid Nails....

yup, that's the problem, the darn tower openings. I tried to wrap towels around the tower, to prevent dust, but that didn't help. So I figured I would let everything dry out, which is one day here, then cover with the sheets and the boat cover, possibly even run a small fan inside to keep air circulating, whatcha think?

ok, i'll look to see where a dollar store is. I Know wal-mart has some dollar cutting boards, so will probably just grab them there. Plus then i don't have to worry about wood

I was also thinking, that tube is also to help air move to the back of the boat and cool off the engine. I hope you are cooling the engine also........

I think the small fan will draw in more dust from the outside. A quick cleaning before use seems to be a better solution. In Sacramento, we have dirt and the wind kicks up a lot but no where near the amount of dirt as Bako....

the vent is to allow the blower to pull air in and fumes out. Worst case what happens is when I turn the blower on it will pull the hot air out of the compartments, and the other vents will still allow air through. I think It will be fine. I'll pay attention to the temps of the engine. but the other thing is that you dont' even ahve to have the blower on when your running. My friend who taught me how to drive has not had a blower on when he is running the boat for ever. He just uses it to get the fumes out, and at idle, if he is driving, he turns it off, and he has been on the water since he could walk.

I dont think you are supposed to have the blower on above idle

you can always have it on, but you don't have to. I run mine none stop, why I got a quieter one. and will for sure now that I have those hot amps

the reasoning above idle is that there is enough air movement to move the fumes around. hence you don't need a fan.
