    Fun weekend, (shared sarcastically)....


    I guess I had not shared with you guys. I went out to my lake spot last Thursday, totally on a whim, just to check on things and to water plants, as a friend had dropped some off for me, and they were not actually planted yet.

    Well, they were watered.... Turns out that I had the #1 fitting in my "lake house" popped loose, and I had a 5/8" stream of water spraying under the kitchen cabinet for several days. The plants were sitting against the wall; the wall that the water was running out of...

    Opened the front door and walked in to about a 1/4" of water up above the berber carpet...

    I was up LATE Thursday night, ripping up carpet, vaccuuming, (had to go back to the house jsut to get a shop vac) and trying to dry things out as best I could. The good news is that the sub-floor looks like it will survive, (with a healthy does of Clorox) andI had been thinking about replacing carpet this fall anyway.

    Oh well...

      That sucks!!!!

        I had issues with stains on the carpet in the kitchen area, so I was seriously going to replace it soon. I just didn't plan on it being prior to Labor Day!!!

          Vegas was out of control this weekend!!!

          On Saturday night we went to Tryst and LeBron James, Larry Hughes, D.Wade, George Maloof and some dude that is part owner of UFC all had tables near ours!!!
          Put your hand on a hot stove for a minute, and it seems like an hour. Sit with a pretty girl for an hour, and it seems like a minute. THAT'S relativity. Albert Einstein

            Did the drywall get effed up???

            That happened to my parents house they had to replace 24" from the ground up all around the house.

              It is a travel trailer; no drywall. I know the walls got a little wet, but it will have to live. Lots of clorox sprayed; hopefully there was enough clorox that crept up into the panelling to ward off rot for a few more years. Luckily, the way they build these things, it is not so airtight; the water ran out under the walls, which were originally tilted up onto the floor, AFTER carpet and linoleum were already in place!!!!!

              The place is a 1978 Nu-Way, purchased several years ago as a project. It is my "Stealth-lake-home"... Sort of a POS on the outside; the paint is faded, and it really looks 30 years old from the outside. Thing is, the AC still blows cold enough to hang meat, and about 4 years ago I completely gutted the interior and remodeled; new pickwick pine on the walls, new carpet, custom living room benches with under-seat storeage, porcelain "throne" etc. The thing is darned sharp on the inside, and I like the fact that I have maybe $1,000.00 in it total. Okay, that is before all of the audio upgrades...

              I want to keep it as long as I can; it is pretty darned nice inside, (everybody brings friends by still to see the "remodel job") and it suits me just fine. Not so large that I have to entertain a bunch of guests there either; one bed, just for me and the lady friend, that is all.

                Well, let's hope that you can get the back to normal soon. However, it was nice that the plants had water if you look at the big picture.. Sorry to here that this happened.

                  I was shocked when I found the "flood", but came away smiling.

                  I have been reading the Bible a lot recently; just started the book of Job Wednesday or Thursday, right before it happened. I just smiled; it is a very small thing compared to all of the good things most all of us have in our lives every day. I have my health, my life, my friends, my job, my lake spot!!! Now I have new carpet coming for the bedroom, and a better idea about what to do in the kitchen area!

                    I am glad you had fun in Vegas!!!! I have yet to go there for anything other than work, but if I get to go jsut for fun, I will have to catch up with ya on the good places to hang.
