Forget it... I am just going to copy and paste the email..

I wanted to send you an e-mail letting you know that Nathan was observed for 2 hrs yesterday by our ACRC behaviorist, Lisa Heitzler. She will be writing up a detailed report, but I just wanted to touch on a few of her findings and suggestions. Lisa feels that Nathan is somewhat “burnt out” on discreet trial training; especially all of the non-functional goals, such as matching blocks and recognizing colors and letters and such. She feels that functional skills and communication should be paramount to his program now. Because you have such a great resource in Cara, Lisa will be suggesting that the ABC program fade-out over the next quarter, and then a trainer-to-trainer model be introduced (perhaps by another vendor) to train you both and Cara. Since Nathan will be attending school for a longer period of time, his academic goals should be taken care of there, and the trainer to trainer model will help Cara and you both work with him on all of his other goals for a few hours per week. I know you were concerned with his age, and of “aging out of a program” however, Lisa has told me that this type of ABA format caps out at 6yrs old typically. So he is already at that point. I will leave this for you to discuss with Lynn, and I would ask that the vendor is not contacted about this until we (Lynn, you and the regional center-me/Lisa) come up with a plan of action, so as not to confuse the subject further.
