Good, check the key. Then you know if your problem is at the battery or engine.

purple is the ignition feed to the coil and electrical instruments.

orange goes from distribution panel to accessory switch.

yellow with red stripe is the wire between the switch and the starting solenoid

          It just looks like one.....

                      cp3,

I believe you should be able to find a purple wire, the yellow wire with the red stripe, and then either the orange or red on the back of the key switch.

With the key off, you should still be able to read voltage on the wire that is NOT purple or yellow with red stripe.

Did you accidentally loosen the lock nut on your key switch body, so that the entire thing turns with the key, rather than the key turning inside the switch body?

                      EDIT

I think actually you will find orange and purple tied together, yellow with red stripe on its own lug, and red on its own lug, according to my stardard wire code documents. The power should be on for the red wire with the key off, and on red, yellow, and purple with the key on.

My lock nut fell off last weekend, took me forever to figure out wtf was going on. It finally dawned on me when I found the lock nut under the seat. Never said I was the sharpest tool in the shed.....lol
