G had some warping and splitting. Not to mention he got his teak platform thinking it was real teak.

I know from experience that no matter how well you maintain it, you still can get checking, AND splinters... This behavior from real teak

real teak is naturally oily, does not hold varnish without major prep work, needs sanded about once a year, and teak or tung oil applied monthly, or more.

FOr the average boater a fiberglass deck is the preferred route, when compared with the wood swim platforms available.

Or... use this composite material over the fiberglass, call it whatever you want, adn get on with life with zero maintenance...
