Its possible, but how long did you run it while it was overheated?
and a shot impeller will not affect it starting

just read the thing agian... we ran ours overrheated longer then 5 min and didnt suffer any problems that affected the performance of the engine

yea mine was heated no longer than 5 minutes

yeah we were out on the river and the alarm went off and we werent sure what normal temp was becuase we didnt have the boat very long, and until we opened the cover and felt the heat we didnt turn around, then we idled all the way back to the dock.

^lol^ but yea mine doesnt have an alarm~~~ its like busted or sumthin... light didnt even come on. all i know is gauge was past 175 where its never gone past up to 225 and there was alot of freakin heat commin out of it.
