With a conservative loss factor of 1.2, (heating up wiring, inefficiencies, etc.) assuming 250 amps is the pull, I can quickly extimate it will take 7.5 hours of charging for every hour of use.

I am flying somewhat by the seat of my pants here; while the charger will deliver 40 amps, I am assuming that some of that 40 never gets to the batteries or stays in the batteries, instead making heat in wiring, etc... That is why I am using a 1.2 multiplier, which may be conservative. If we use a loss multiplier of 1.5 we are at almost 9.5 hours charging for every hour of use.

This of course assumes no motor run at all. Any alternator charging should, (or may) reduce the charge time some...

Does that feel right to everyone?

SPharis, are you watching this at all?

Please understand, this is to return the batteries to the same charge condition as before using the stereo. It will run after a shorter charge time, it just will run a shorter time prior to zapping the batteries again...

ok cool deal. SO what I was figuring is worst case if I do run it top and bottm of the hour and then get a good charge on it at night if I were to go out for a weekend I should still be ok, which is what I was wanting to know. I just need to figure out if it's going to charge it or if I have an issue with a cell.

One bad cell is goign to wreck all the rest.

I'll be checking each cell tomorrow, which will give them a FULL 24 hours to charge. If they are not full, i'll check the charger to see if it is charging and the cells. The charger should be putting out around what ever I have it set at right?

SP doesn't come into this thread very much if at all. It sounds good to me.... But again, I am electricity illiterate..

i understand about zapping them for sure. I know that before with just the two batts doing the charging I would do with the weak alt would keep the stereo jumping for a week, so with the extra juice and the beefier alt I should be ok, least I hope. But then if I have a bad cell all bets are off as it will destroy the others.

And here I am still running single 5-channel amp on one (only) battery.

                        System rocks!!!!!!

(I have a booster / jump pack if the batt goes dead...)

yeah I would have that but I just ran cables instead Only had the bat die once on me now I have that single lone one on it's own switch so therotically I should never have an issue as it gets charged everytime and it's all by it's self
