    2005 Chevy Duramax

So, I have the '05 2500 4WD with the LLY engine and the 5 speed Allison. It currently has the muffler eliminator pipe and the Edge Juice programmer on it. The truck runs pretty good and pulls the boat ok. I opted for some 20' wheels and went with larger tires after lifting it 3" and it lost some of it's go power.

I don't like the lift that is on it and am expecting to go with a little taller kit later on. But, I would like to know if anyone has any suggestions on what peformance enhancing equipment I could add. I've thought about 4" turbo back exhaust and getting a different programmer (the shift patterns really suck with this Edge programmer). But, I don't want to have to buy things twice in that if I upgrade, I want something that will last.

I am going to start using this truck as my daily driver and will be towing the boat on the weekends. Any help is needed and greatly appreciated (wickedcummins).

What size tires are you going to go with? If they are 35s or larger I'd regear before anything else.

Pretty sure they are the stock tires for an F250 - 33s I think. It's sad that you have to jack a Chevy 3" to fit a stock Ford tire, but they look good.

I have an 02 CC shortbed 4x4 LB7, edge juice, afe intake with amsoil ea air filter, oil guard bypass oil filter, 2 micron baldwin BF7635 fuel filter, 4" turbo back magnaflow and am running 265 tires. I bought it new and it's got 220k on it now with the 3rd set of injectors in it. I've been beaten by 2 cars, the Corvette ZO6 and the Porsche GT that whats his face just died in. One of the guys I play poker with didn't believe me and took me on with his twin turbo Z. He now understands diesel power.
Your biggest problem with power is your tire size but there are several other factors to consider and check first: 1) Whats your full throttle acceleration boost pressure? 2) What are your EGT's during that full pull at each power setting? 3) Smoke in the exhaust during acceleration and if so, what color? 4) Smoke at any other point of engine running? 5) Injectors ever replaced? 6) Miles on truck? 7) Miles on fuel filter? 8) Odd noises?
If you go up in tire size and lift from stock to the sizes you're saying, re-gear the rear end to 4.55-4.9:1, they're 3.73 stock. Plan on changing the front wheel bearings about every 20K with a lift too, one of the side effects. There's also a fuel pressure relief spring in the common rail, driver's side that has notorious issues of dumping fuel pressure during pulls in the heat of the day. Easy fix for about $20 for the part and some skilled labor and tools.
BTW, you can program each power level with the edge and I run mine at "low boost fueling level 1" for power level 1, LBF level 3 for power level 2 (towing level) and the full level low boost fuel for the other 3 power levels. "Defuel all shifts" through power level 4 and Power level 5 is just everything at full level.
It's important to have a quality air filter (K&N will never count as a quality air filter) along with quality fuel filtration and exhaust to compliment the power and ridiculous torque these pigs can produce. BD offers a turbo upgrade but really, how much power do you want? What's your budget? My truck produced 1106lb-ft of torque on the dyno at 84K miles and 486 RWHP with just what I have on it and diesel fuel only and thats pretty good for me. I use it to commute about 60-75 miles a day so I don't romp on it much any more but any opportunity to smoke a Mustang GT gets taken (and those guys hate me :-).

I don't know the boost or the EGTs because I don't have the monitor for the Edge unit. There is a little black smoke when I romp on it the first time, but after that there is nothing. The smoke was black. At no other time does it smoke. I have never replaced the injectors, it has always run fine so I have not considered it. I have about 70K miles on it - I used to use it for work when I first bought it, but am just now starting to use it again. I replace the fuel filter every other oil change so I am pretty sure it is good. The tires I am running are 275/60/20s. I didn't think they were tall enough to warrant a gear change, but maybe they are.

I may need to get the Attitude monitor for it. I think it gives a lot more feedback and is more adjustable than the edge juice I have now.

Regrettably, I sprung for the K/N filter. It is about 7 years old now and you can still see through it when you hold it up to light.

I am really thinking that the restriction is the catalytic converter. Maybe I need to spring for the 4" turbo back exhaust?

Exactly. Get the monitor and you can change shift points, low boost fueling, defuel each shift, power levels and so on. I misunderstood your tire size and they shouldn't make much difference but have push button control of power levels and all the info on screen is the way to go. FYI I've had to replace my injectors at or around 70,000 each time. After adding the huge fuel filtration unit I'm 80k since my last and still no issues.
