What do you think this motor will have for easily accessible hp and torque numbers through a programmer and emission delete etc. Wicked? any clue as to how many pounds of boost they're running stock?

39psi stock? That's a $hit load of boost! How many psi would you crank it up to? That turbo must have a massive efficiency range if it's operating at 39 stock with plenty of usable boost on the table.

That's not that much. All diesels are high

Buddy of mine put a 4 cyl cummins in a 92 1/2ton chevy cranked out about 35mpg avg with a lead foot and automatic. Granted the pump, injectors, and turbo were tweeked a little. Truck would move pretty darn good too.

New diesels 39 psi stock is no issue like hes saying. Now the older ones that was getting pretty hot. Just takes a good head gasket and some studs. Friends daily driver hits round 60psi now. Pulling truck roughly 80psi.

I have my defuel setting at 38 on my powerstroke - 39 stock seems a bit high for me, but then again I plan on this one lasting a while...

That is some serious boost, that thing must have some serious mods to handle that kind of pressure.

It is far from the old stock motor except for the rods, crank, and cam. Very hard on head gasket I will say though. Hes working on a triple turbo set up now. Current is dual.

Heck his old pulling tractor pegged the 100 guage before it bent the push rods. He knows how to make some power out of the diesels. Just has a lot of money in them.

39 is not high on a compression engine. Stock cummins are in this range as well... My personal trucks range from 90-120psi.. Its not all about pressure its about Volume the Charges move

What are your thoughts about the durability of this particular Italian built engine? I would sure love a tow rig that gets 25 mpg average.

MLS, I service a shop that gets the test vehicles a few years in advance. They have drivers that put vehicles in real world situations then bring them back to my mechanics to pull things back apart, pretty cool. I recently saw both the Ram and the Nissan in the shop and asked the guys about them. They seemed to really like the Nissan over the Ram. Reliability and power were their main reasons as they couldn't give me too much more information.

Hard to say. I personally dont know enough about the company, others probably know more. But being the first year I probably wouldnt buy it. The new emission equipment / injection system on any new diesel can make or break it. You go back to the 90s models without all the emission cr*p and they were solid no trouble motors for the most part long as you took care of them. The motors would out last the truck body. Now it seems like the new ones (under any brand) trying to hit the new emission standards have more problems with that system than the actual motor, which can cause serious problems with the motor. Not to mention the blend of diesel now s*cks, which will cause premature wear. But give them a little bit to get it all sorted out and they will have a solid 1/2 ton tow rig with good mpgs.

Course if it would have been my choice the 4BT Cummins would have been a much better choice and pretty bullet proof. It just wont hit the emissions required for new trucks without some modifications.

Diesel fuel dont hurt the new fuel systems.. And as far as TONS of probablems I dont see this either.. There is alot of shops and tech that dont understand them and cant fix them right leading to never ending issues. But properly cared for new diesels go forever.. I have two customers on with a 08 6.7 bone stock over 800K on the truck stock auto transmission.. And the other one is a 2011 with 520K all stock only performed all maint.. Never one had issues. Cummins dodge dont release a truck tell its ready to rock and roll.. This 1500 is a slam dunk.. Nothing to work out its a fiat diesel engine.. They have been using for a long time over seas! they ever have this engine in the 300s over there

I wont get into an argument to each his own when it comes to trucks.
