    Agree or disagree?

Well look how well that mindset worked for the auto industry. I guess pretty soon we can have crappy overpriced American hamburgers.

      X2!!!

Guess I need to send a pick-me-up PM to Gcombe74 along with some aspirin.

I changed my opinion of you Flat5 - your a half way decent guy.

I can slap you around and you come back live and well.

You have a sense of humor and this is good.

      Summary; NOBODY likes you.

I'd fire them all too. Nothing in the constitution about raising a family of 4 on minimum wage jobs. If they want higher wages they can move to ND.

I agree. If you don't like your situation, get off your duff and do something about it.

They did just that. They got off their duff and said FU to giant corporate institutions.

This stuff parallels with same group of people (millennial gen) that told BOF to "F off" when they contemplated debit card fees.

These people are non-elitist. They are just people at the bottom of the totem pole who (believe it or not) are tightly woven into the fabric of our society.

These people are compared to the great labor movement generation back at the turn of the 20th century.

In due time, they will ultimately take on any large institution and make them bend at the knees.

For those that don't give a damn (won't mention any names because there would be too many to list), you will see a massive shift in political demographics (as we've already seen), and a new labor movement is about to be born.

Americans culture is based on the middle finger gesture. These people have guts, and they don't do "groupthink" either.

We should be tipping our hat to these people. Unless your an elitist...... of course.

Summary: It's good to rock the boat.

those people are lazy!! they expect to get paid more than minimum wage to do a minimum wage job? they must be stupid too. if they truly had guts they would educate themselves and get a better job. and they would still complain.

i think the labor movement was more about working conditions and hours than it was about pay? not sure, no comparison to todays workplace, IMO.

Yup, I'm no elitist. My grandfather came here from Poland and worked in coal mines when he was a kid, joined the army during ww2, came back home after getting shot up charging a machine gun nest, started his own printing company with an army buddy, had a successful business that provided well for my dad and the other family members in the business. I know where I came from, I know that it takes hard work and determination to improve your situation in life, I know that our country represents opportunity and freedom, and the American dream is not a house and 2 cars, it's providing a better life for your kids so they can be more successful than you. The American dream is not about the government providing for all Americans equally, that's the communist dream, where everyone suffers equally.

With that said its important to remeber history, specifically the history of the labor movement, who fought and one important rghts for workers such as the right to safe working conditions and humane shifts. As far as the unions go, they should have said mission accomplished and been disolved when the EPA and OSHA were established. There should never have been public sector unions, what is their purpose now? And of this new "labor movement" what is their purpose? To shut down fast food? I worked minimum wage jobs when I was in HS and they helped me put myself through college as well but it wasn't a career path, it was an early stepping stone. Minimum wage jobs are unskilled and barely require someone to be able to read. That type of labor is the easiest to find and train for those jobs, since they are the lowest paying. If someone working in an unskilled job wants to make more money they have to learn skills which are harder to find and harder to train for so there is a competitive market for skilled jobs and the skilled labor is able to charge more for their services. This is really a false debate brought about by irrelevant unions who have achieved their goals of improving working conditions and compensations for all labor ranks and they are now looking at he lowest and most uneducated class of unskilled workers in a desperate attempt to collect dues and continue to exist.

Just like you said, this is an FU country who will band together to fight injustice. If the need arises for another major labor movement to protect life and human rights, people will come together and organize, but now is not that time, and min wage jobs should not be worth striking for. It makes a mockery of the legitimate strikes against sweatshops and death trap factory's from the early days of the industrial revolution.

The only thing they're doing is trying to get the Govt. to tell their employers to pay them more. If they don't like their wage, they should look for another job that either pays more or gives them more hours. The other option is to go back to school and learn a skill. THe way they are going about it is socialistic in nature. This country's economy is based on capitalism. The way I look at it, these jobs are entry level, something your teenage son or daughter would do as their first job. These jobs were never meant as something to raise a family with.

How ironic, I post that, than Pizza Hut delivery brings us the pizza without marinara sauce for at least the 3rd time. She even said we havent gotten it the last 3 times and make sure we get it. Luckily the ol lady had a melt down and he told us to just take the pizza, he got paid his 2 dollar delivery regardless. But like I said, they wont get real jobs, because they cant do the one they have!!!!
