I live in liberal CA and gas is around $4.65 a gal of reg gas. CA shows the US what will happen when you have Libs in charge for years!

California's Democrat run Legislature has been killing CA for 40 years. The Regulations has destroyed more jobs, caused higher taxes, highest utitlity rates, and has driven away hundred of companies and millions of jobs. Yet since CA is now a nanny state the same Democrats, with the help of the Unions just keep getting re-elected. A funny thing these Democrats forget is the basic economic law that it takes the tax revenue of 19 private sector workers making the same as one state worker to pay for the State worker. Now just look at how many new jobs the State is hiring with a State wide un-employment of 12+%. Now would you want to move a business to CA when you see what a huge deficit this State faces? Jerry and the Clowns are going to only raise taxes never stop the spending.

To be frank I don't know! The similarity to 2008 is just boggling. I just wonder who I can thank Do I thank Romney for all of his rhetoric that seems to be having an affect on the economy already
Or a couple of weeks before we vote Obama economics are kicking in.

Sorry all, I just needed to be a smart alec. It has been a bad couple of days.

The Dodd Frank act set limits on commodity purchases to 10% of contract unless you were an actual user of the commodity. (i.e. airlines buying oil for use of jet fuel) Republicans said no, then a Judge over ruled the law. Can I say "Thank you" republicans. Yet the republicans on this board want change. Interesting.

An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before, but had recently failed an entire class. That class had insisted that Obama's socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.

The professor then said, "OK, we will have an experiment in this class on Obama's plan". All grades will be averaged and everyone will receive the same grade so no one will fail and no one will receive an A.... (substituting grades for dollars - something closer to home and more readily understood by all).

After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy. As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little.

The second test average was a D! No one was happy. When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F. As the tests proceeded, the scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else.

To their great surprise, ALL FAILED and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great, but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed. It could not be any simpler than that. Remember, there IS a test coming up. The 2012 elections.

These are possibly the 5 best sentences you'll ever read and all applicable to this experiment:

                  1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.

                  2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.

                  3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.

                  4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it!

                  5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of any nation.

But the moral of the story is still true

I like #3 of the 5 above. The Feds only get money from 2 sources, not counting what we barrow from China. One is to print it, but that causes inflation and devalues the dollar if it just tossed into the economy. The US GOV doesnt provide a service in which it actually sells, nor do they manufacture a product for sale. So, this leaves it to the collection of taxes! Well, just like Skip's story above, we are on our way to being a class full of F's.

If I am going to be demonized for being successful and have the majority of my hard-earned gains stolen (legally via liberal legislation) by the US GOV, and redistributed to those expecting the rest of the country to support them, then over time, I will just slip into the mindset of the fur-frees.
