Need some travel ideas from the UT and NV crowd

We are planning our annual trip to Vegas next month for the Mead event, and many of you know. When out there, one of our favorite places to go visit for a couple of days is Zion. Well, they are having a music festival that weekend! There are no open hotels there or even over near Bryce Canyon Anyway, with that many people in the park, traffic will be hell and there would not be any wildlife withing 500 miles of the park

    So, Zion.....OUT
    Bryce......OUT
Powell/Glenn Canyon.....OUT. Too far to drive for the amount of time we have available to stay.
    Red Rock....been there, done that
    Valley of Fire....seen it.
Mt Charleston......did one day hike, but what else is there to do up there since the slopes arent open?
Grand Canyon.....South Rim is also far for the time available to stay. I would like at least 2 days there. West Rim is closer, but is it worth it?

We are looking for a place to stay for 2 nights. We are looking for scenery, wildlife, easy to moderate hiking. 2-3 hour drive one way is where I want to keep it. This gets us time at the destination and time to get back to Vegas for out flight home.

    Any and all suggestions, thanks!

Looks like Tall sent you a PM, probably suggesting the same things as I do here. St. George is only 1 1/2 hours from Vegas, You would probably like Snow Canyon State Park, plus Pine Valley. There are tons of hikes and smaller lakes to visit. If Tall didn't already make the offer, I will for him. He and I could host you for a couple of days.

Brian Head ski resort near Cedar City is nice. Some good scenery and hiking around there and Cedar Breaks National Monument next door.

Or...could always visit the legal brothels in Nye County.
