Willie Nelson (how can you not love him)
    Stevie Ray Vaughn (of course)
David Bromberg (not really Texas, but he did play with Jerry Jeff Walker)
    Arc Angels
    Ian Moore
    ZZ Top
    Los Lonely Boys

I also have a fair amount of blues. Top favorites are Clarence Gatemouth Brown, Albert Collins, Johnny Copeland, Robert Cray and BB King.

Almost forgot Santana (especially the early stuff), Dire Straits, Rob Thomas, Creed, Matchbox Twenty, Big Head Todd and the Monsters, George Thorogood...the list goes on and on.

For wakeboarding, I usually pick tunes that are easy to jam to.

Sorry, don't have Radar Love, but that'll be on the download list ASAP. Good suggestion. How about Deep Purple: Smoke over Water and Hush

      Fleetwood Mac is good, too.

        draginass,

I have heard those guys, I just didn't know who they were. 12" 3 speed oscilling fan is a great song. That is why I started this thread. I've got 20 gigs in my 40 gig and I'm out of music to put on there. Big Smith will be going on though. Thanks dude! Along those same lines, have you heard of Hayseed Dixie? I've got a two of their albums and they're both pretty good. One is all 80's rock love songs, the other is all AC/DC covers. Their name says it all if your wondering how they sound.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

I've got Bighead Todd and Nelly too! I get all my down loads from I-Tunes.

              tweirich,

The only one on your blues list I don't have have is Johnny Copeland. All those are good with me though. This is the first year in about 10 that B.B. hasn't played here. There's only one King of the blues. A couple of favorites from my blues que: John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf. Did you ever hear the story of how the Stones found Howlin Wolf?

Nope, didn't hear the story. Do you have Pinetop Perkins?

I was a DJ in college for our college radio station. I started a blues format...we ended up with over 5K blues LPs (yeah, I'm dating myself). We had a band come up and play called the Nighthawks (CD is called Jacks & Kings). They were very good. Pinetop played with them on occasion.

I'm glad I live in Austin.

                  The Wolf

O.K. A friend of mine is a big time music head, in fact he works at The
Village , a fairly famous recording studio in Hollywood (I got to sit at the board where they recorded Steely Dan- Aja). He is the one who told me this story. London, circa 1970's, The Stones are walking down the street and and there is some guys painting an old house. They hear one of the guys talking and they all stop and look. They know that voice. There is Howlin' Wolf painting houses for a living. They walk over to him and ask if in fact he is Howlin' Wolf. He confirms this and they proceed to ask the obvious. "What the hell are you doin' paintin' houses". "Well, a man has got to make a living"."But your Howlin' Wolf". He explained that this was his only source of income. They promptly told him to drop the paint brush and come with them. They set him up with a home and a bank account and he never worked another day in his life (except to jam with The Stones here and there).

                  The End

I do not have any Pinetop in my collection, yet.

This is going to sound a little wierd but, Michael Jackson- Thriller. When was the last time you listened to it? It's pretty damn good. Personally I think the guy is a freak but, good music is good music.

The other one I've got for you is The Happy Mondays- Pills and Thrills and Bellyaches. This came out about 1990. A friend of mine had purchased it at the same time I had purchased Jesus Jones. He wanted to trade me and I said O.K. To this day it is still the best music trade I ever did. But I digress. It's really hard to describe their sound. In fact I can't think of where to begin, so I won't. Just get it. You can thank me later.

Out of 4000+ songs on the iPod, we manage to get through just about every genre there is...

Rancid is very high up on the list right now, as well as Suicide Machines, and Goldfinger and some other good punk bands

We normally don't tend to listen to the main-stream gangster rap.

Jurassic 5, Swollen Members, Abstract Rude, Sweatshop Union, and Black Eyed Peas (Dad's favorite) are a few 'rappers' we listen to. The beats are good, the lyrics are mostly clean, and we're not listening to the rappers talk about girls, rims, bling, and money.

Then of course, just about every Bob Marley and Sublime track there is, from covers to originals.

                          SOLID

Got any 7 Seconds? The DK's are great for surfin'. I as well have just about every Sublime ever done. I can literally can recite every Raliegh Theodor Sakers soliloquy on Robin The Hood. So far as your "rappers" go, those guys are beyond being "rappers", they are rhymers. It is nice to see some Tige owners with with some good taste on some tastefull rhymes. "A rapper is a kid who brags and acts big, a rhymer is a @!##$% who can handle his biz". -J5

That was just plain mean spirited. Please allow my sincerest apologies. I don't even know if you are a football fan. Being an Eagles fan I have seen the dark times come and go. Everything comes in cycles.

Hey don't get offended if some of us don't get into rap. As I mentioned, my kids are 10 & 12. As a parent, I gotta make sure they don't start believing some of the lyrics I heard and since I'm not familiar with it (i.e., I personally care less for rap music), I have a hard time distinguishing the good guys from the bad guys. Better to opt for no guys in that genre at all.

I'm sure there's rap music that even I would like, but who's got time to screen the good from the bad. I do appreciate you helping us identify what that is so I can broaden my horizons
