Depends on where the battery(s) are. If the batteries are in the bilge, like they are on most Tige V-drives, I prefer a sealed breaker. If the batteries are in a locker, then a traditional fuse holder is fine.

Chp said as long as it isnt in the bilge where it cant get wet, a fuse is fine. I just keep extra fuses on hand in case something happens. I bought a 10pk of 300 amp fuses for 12 bucks. Now that I do research, I think 300 amp fuse will b to big for the 4 gauge wire to the 1000/1

Yes, 300A is way too large for a 4 ga run of that length. I think the 1000/1 only needs a 100A.

Yes, 300A is way too large for a 4 ga run of that length. I think the 1000/1 only needs a 100A.

How long is the 1/0 B+ and GND? those 3 Syn-4 would probably will not draw more then 150A, so a 300A fuse is more then enough to carry the load, but we do not want it to be more then what the cable can carry. The length will determine this. Without doing the math, 200A would be the most you need.

Where are you guys surfing? My sister in-law and her husband live in Carlsbad and surf and paddle board alot. We tried to get out there last month but it cost too much to fly there. We flew to vegas instead
