          Is the wire stranded?

          What size is the solder? Smaller the better as it melts faster. The longer you heat the strip, the more it melts out the contact disc. If you have to, snip the exposed end off the strip and move to the other end.

              Also, pull the trigger on the gun before touching it to the strip and wire. This lets the tip get hot. This means its hot before hitting the strip and wire. In the ideal world, the solder needs to melt from the heat off the wire, not by touching the tip of the solder. other wise, you get a cold solder and the wire will pop off.

                I didnt have the copper on the LEDs stripped all the way down I dont think. I got them soldered on now. I mean if I wiggle and tug on them they pop off. I guess thats where the heat shrink would come into effect huh?

                              Yeah, you gotta have the surface clean. Kinda like trying to weld a rusted or painted surface, it wont take. No, the heatshrink only makes a moisture seal, the solder needs to hold the wires.
