I cut out another syn 4 and my JL 1000/1 acrylic. Hopefully those are the final product. I have a few questions for Chp, than Im going to glue the LEDs on the 1000/1 an cut it, then try my luck at soldering the leads on it.

Those plates look good. Those radiused corners will make is much easier to lay in the LED's.

I would sand the outer edge so you get a frosted look. This will defuse the light, rather then allow the light from each LED be seen. If you want a polished look, you can do it with a torch. Google it to see how and what gas to use.

I would have all the machine work to the plate done, including pre-drilling the mounting screw holes, before gluing the strips on. Solder and heat-shrink the LEDs before gluing also.

Thanks, yea I sanded the chit out of the edges with 80 grit sandpaper on a palm sander. Does it need more?

That was one of my questions. So you drill a hole in the acrylic for the mounting screws to go thru I take it. Does the acrylic go right to the amp rack, or right under the amp? If it goes right under the amp, I can get like 3/4" or 1" standoffs, than get a long enough screw to go thru the amp mounting plate and the acrylic, correct?

You can sand as much as you want. The more you take out the machine marks left from saw blade, the better the frosted effect will be. try a higher grit then test with some lights just laid inside and the amp set on top.

If you are mounting the amp on some stand-off, then put the plate between the amp and the stand-offs. You want the light to come out from behind the plate and though the plate, but not between the amp and plate.

Did you ever see the pics of ET's white 09 VLX? The thread is somewhere here and has some good pics. if not, i'll re-post them here so you can see how they look.

Thanks Chp, thats what I needed to know. Yea, I looked up that thread again a bit ago, but its hard to see how you have the plate mounted. I will drill the holes, sand with 220 on the edges, than see how shes looking. May have to wait til tomorrow tho cuz its cold out
