USADA released their "report" on the systematic doping of Lance Armstrong and his teams...very damning evidence

so, maybe no smoking gun hardcore physical evidence like an EPO syringe with his blood in it...but the prepoderence of evidence, circumstantial or not, is overwhelming
Still seems like the USADA is trying to save itself. I thought I read somewhere that some of the supposed witnesses are saying that they disagree with what they supposedly said in the report.

Hmmmm, If they really had something on me but I was not a big fish and they would cut me a deal to get to who they really want would I take it?

I have mixed feelings about it all. I really do think that the vast majority of top cyclists from that period doped. I just read that, if you include Lance, that 20 of the 21 podium positions from his 7 victories were occupied by cyclists that have either been found guilty of doping or admitted to doping. So I don't feel that Lance and USPostal/Discovery was necessarily any worse than the rest.

And I feel that it is silly for USADA to pursue him at this late a time. For gosh sakes, his last TDF win was in 2005. We all know that doping was common then, what good is spending millions of dollars to attack it now? Let it be.

However, the only good that I hope comes from it all, is a chance to wipe the slate clean. Start fresh. Give dopers a window of time to admit without penalty, and maybe use their confessions and info to attack doping moving forward.

To LA's defense, he never failed a random or after comp drug test, right?

I dunno. I just read statements today from about five current riders that admitted to their testimony and past doping.

Seems to me that the dam has broken, at least the dam that was holding back the silence in this particular case.

                  Maybe.

A number of witnesses described how they would avoid tests (which is harder to accomplish now).

And there are strong links to the possibility that LA did fail a test for EPO from the Tour of Switzerland back in 2001, but that it might have been "buried" after he made a $100,000 "donation" to the UCI.

I don't hate Lance. Really, I still respect the hell out of his accomplishments. But I think that his goose is cooked, as far as claiming he was clean the whole time.

Not sure on the cost. Some will argue that USADA is not a government agency, however, the vast majority of their budget comes from the US gov't.

As to why it is still going on - they expected LA to fight them, so when he gave up, they still had to organize all their evidence into a coherent file and submit it to the UCI (international cycling governing body) to make the suspensions and removal of his titles official. They finally just got it all together and submitted it.

I guess we have another one to add to the list with PBS.
