Bryce, I think 120k is not a far fetched expectation, but you might need a few years experience. Like Skippa said, your first employer will likely be a stepping stone uses you find the right one that will value you.
I consider myself extremely lucky. I never truly finished college but with my military experience I landed a good technical job when I got out and hit the lottery finding a medical manufacturer that makes equipment similar to a radar systemWaiting for another good one!

Even still, having a degree in the world is fast becoming a necessity. In my line of work, a bachelors gets you in the door, a masters is requried for promotion and higher pay.
